Still at it but getting better!

Continuing with the 5ks and still not really doing enough but last night very pleased with myself - been running slower to run for longer so ran at a steady pace for 6.5 k ( longest yet) over 50 minutes! Legs aching like hell afterwards but I could have gone on. Decided not to as I didn’t want to overdo it. Keeping on with the core /strength exercises and a long cycle a week too. Feeling good! 😉 might start the 10k plan soon😀

That’s great, just keep going and increasing slowly

The Magic plan is a good way to increase gently

Fabulous! Yes, building that stamina and endurance really pays off, as does strength training 👍🏻😁

Yes it definitely makes a big difference. Although my hips are aching today!😣

Awesome and you did brilliantly by holding some back. If you finish a run and know you have more left then this is a terrific sign. You might not actually need the plan. You may feel better doing your own thing. Great progress and super running!

Thanks! Perhaps I’ll just carry on as I am. Good advice, thanks!

Well done! That’s what I did, too - ran really slowly once a week! For my first 60 minute run I didn’t even get to 6K 😀. It didn’t bother me. I just kept extending the time, just for that one run. I agree with GTFC, you might not need the magic plan. I didn’t find out about it until after I’d run for 60 minutes and then it was too late 😀

Happy running 😀

Yes, think I’m going to do that at my own pace, try and run a bit longer each time and not worry about distance or speed. Did you do shorter runs as well or just the one 60 minute per week?

I built up to 60 minutes and beyond for my Saturday run. I’m still increasing! Got to 2.5 hours, so stepped back a bit. Thought I’d just run a few 10Ks for a while.

One run I do speed work. This is either a short, fast run, 2 or 3K, or interval work of 60 seconds running, 90 seconds jogging, for 20 minutes. I decide on the day what I fancy doing!

The other run is where I go out and run for 30 minutes. That’s usually 4K for me. Sometimes I do 5K, but that’s unusual.

It’s my plan, so I can change it at a moment’s notice if I want to 😀

Sounds like you’ve worked out a perfect plan! Think I’ll go for something similar and see how I get on! Thanks 😊
