Running and feeling (so) tired

Ran my 35 min this morning, and it was ok. Ran with Erin again (Runkeeper), replacing walks with ultra-ultra slow run intervals between my usually slow run intervals. Music still not coming down in volume, so ran without music. (That’s how much I wanted to listen to Erin’s voice!)

But by the afternoon and three long online work meetings, I felt ultra tired. 😑 😴🥱😓🥴😔😞😴💤

Is it the weather? Or do I need a break from running and workouts? Or is it nutrition related? Or just one of those days?

Too tired to think, but good news is that my scales this morning suggest that I’ve finally lost my first kilo after starting to run 6 months ago! Slowly ....

Hope everyone is feeling more energetic than me!

Heyyyy! Woop-woop for keeping going! I think these types of run do take it out of you. After a longer slower one maybe you won't feel as jaded?

Could be lots of reasons though so don't worry just rest when you can, keep hydrated as you do and go again. I run evenings in the week which I prefer.

Well done for running anyway CBDB!👍 Some days are just like that and you can’t put your finger on why. I know what you mean about online work meetings. I find them very difficult to concentrate through all the way!😴 Never mind, tomorrow’s another day and there’ll be another run to do when you feel ready for it. Best of luck with it!😀

Well done!! 💪👏👏 Maybe it's Monday running, I tend to let my guard down at the weekend re. hydration and I can always tell if I go out on a Monday 💦

Yes, and the cold weather. 🙏

Well done for just doing it today.

Sometimes I feel rejuvenated by a run and sometimes like sleeping for 12 hours. There’s no apparent reason for either way as I’m pretty regular with my nutrition, hydration and sleeping. I do suspect it’s sometimes the changeable weather.

Just keep on keeping on, it’s all good conditioning for your legs so that they are ready when the next random spurt of energy comes along!

Also congrats on the scale moving down as well. Are you keeping measurements too as you can often find the tape measure is moving even when the scales seem broken!

🙏☺️ yes. Will keep on keeping on. 💪

Well done, weight loss will be slower if you are getting fit as you are replacing fat by muscle and muscle weighs heavier. I used to find back to back long meetings exhausting so maybe you need less meetings rather than less exercise 😂😂

🙏☺️ yes, I think the cold weather is pushing my metabolism down. Less meetings would be nice. 😉

Hi CBDB!!

Well done in the weight loss. That’s brilliant and good on you for running for 35 minutes today while feeling tired too!! 🤩🤩!!

You’ve done a lot of fitness training, as well as running, so probably just a little adjustment and you’ll be back on top form and feeling it. I do both, but my exercise is just a short daily HIIT routine. I’m sure you’ll find the balance that works well for you too. You’re doing brilliantly! ❤️

🙏☺️ thank you. Yes, I think I need to take it a tiny bit slower in winter, and take my day of rest/week. Thanks! ☺️😘

Well done... and I think this time of year often brings extra tiredness as the days get shorter. I have started to swim after work, and I have found that it stops that mental draining feeling, and I am clearer headed afterwards.

Hello CBDB

You’re doing really well on all counts of exercise, running and now weight loss too. If it’s any consolation I ran my slowest 5k since August this morning, no idea why but all replies on this post suggest it happens sometimes as life gets in the way of a good run!

The great thing always is you’ve done it and the next run is another day.

Have a good rest, chat soon. 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

Hey CBDB - slow tired run usually means a better one next time! We have to experience the lows in order to experience the highs! Brilliant that you did it anyway.

A week of rest for me, while I recover from my hip pain - but will keep going. I see less and less people running now that the dark nights are setting in - but all of us on here are carrying on.

Yay for us!!!

Thank you. Yes, I think I cannot NOT carry on. Running is now a part of my weekly routine. I just need to find a way to run and still feel energetic afterwards, thank you! 🙏☺️

I agree with everyone’s replies CBDB. We all get “those” types of days and we just need to embrace them and think of the big picture. We’re living through a mighty odd time at the moment, nothing is normal, and with the nights drawing in (I sound like my late mum saying that!) our bodies are adjusting accordingly.

You’re doing brilliantly. Be kind to yourself, keep hydrated and all will be good, I’m sure of it! 👊

Thanks. 🙏☺️ Yes. Light levels and temperature all probably play a part. Thank you!

You’re doing so well CBDB, you’ve been working so hard on all fronts so maybe it’s time to just take a little break and rest,.... it’s hard to do sometimes when we’re so determined to make progress, but listening to our bodies and letting it rest when needed is also an important part of our training 😴 🤗

Thank you so much. 🙏☺️ yes, that sounds so right. I’ll have to ‘plan’ in (😉) the fact that winter might just not give me the same energy levels. Thank you.

in reply toCBDB

Yes, you're such a great planner so no excuses for planning a Winter programme with a little more rest time 🛌 😊 🤗

well done on the weightloss, its not easy to do! I think some days its just a bit like that. Are you following a particular plan?

CBDB profile image

Long story.. 🤣 but in short no gluten, no dairy and low carbs. But have Hashimotos so weight loss is extra challenging. But maybe now the running is finally paying off and working it’s muscle forming magic....
