It was a lovely fresh misty morning this morning, just beginning to get light when at 6:10am I ventured out to tackle Mission 2 of the Zombie Run app entitled Distraction. The electric gates of the camp have malfunctioned and you (runner 5) are sent out with Runner 8 to collect supplies and lead the zombies away from camp.
Runner 8 doesn’t trust you and makes that blatantly clear from the outset, plus she has a cough, which suggests she may have been bitten. You collect supplies as you run, but if the zombies get too close you’re forced to drop what you’ve collected in order to distract them and stay alive. You can play your own playlist too which is good.
Well it was a fun run and the adventure is enough of a distraction to keep you going. I dropped most of what I picked up but kept going and by the time I’d arrived home I’d covered 9.84k, which made me feel great and set me up for the day.
If you haven’t tried this app already I’d recommend giving it a go, it’s a nice change from the norm and hearing a zombie in your ear hole first thing in the morning when it’s still quite dark certainly gets you moving 🏃♂️🧟♂️

Hi Couchphoenix, I did my first zombie🧟♀️🧟♂️ run this morning as the first 5K of a 10K run. It was great fun and I managed to stay ahead of the zombies, even the former Runner 5 who’d turned into a zombie themselves!🏃♂️👍
😂 Thanks for letting me know, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Well done on outrunning Runner 5, should have warned you about that one 🧟♀️ it’s a clever distraction and I like the way the camps DJ’s take over and use your playlist when the chapter comes to an end 👍
Ohhhh, another runner 5! And it looked like you even dared adding additional Zombie chases! Well done for escaping, runner 5! And watch that runner 8, I don’t trust her! Fun, fun, fun!
Now did you also pick up a ‘sports bra’ or just ‘clean underwear still in its packet’? 🤣🤣🤣
Hi CBDB, I’m out for another zombie run in the morning, I’ve just been exploring the app, and didn’t realise you can actually add buildings etc to the camp by tapping on base icon and Build +, you might already know / do this, but thought I’d mention it.....very clever 👍
Thanks TT60, give them both a go, I think you’ll enjoy them. Pace was ok, but still had to drop most of the items I collected to distract them 😬 fun though ! 😁
Thanks SandraJ39, I think I sacrificed most of my supplies on that run, including the sports bra, they’re a bit nimble on their feet those zombies, good fun though 😂
Ooh, your post inspired me to give it a go this morning ! Was great fun and quite diverting - ie not thinking about ‘how much further’ all the time helps you go further ! Not sure it was a good idea to tick the ‘chase’ option on my long run day (9km!) - I only managed to outrun them once at about 5km where my heart rate peaked over it’s previous max 😱and I wasn’t sure I could complete another 4 but somehow I did !! But just as I was reaching 9k they returned and to be honest I decided to embrace my own demise and surrendered to the deep breathing down my neck - but apparently I’ll live for another day !
AND !! Being chased by zombies has added another 4 years onto my life !! My ‘fitness age’ dropped by 4 years in one run. Happy about that 😇💃🏼
That’s great to hear Juliet202, I’m glad you enjoyed it, it’s a change and as you say it’s a good distraction that helps the miles go by. You did better than me, I didn’t manage to outrun them once, I sacrificed most of my items and scraped through, but was pleased to cover just under 10k. I’ll outrun them next time ! 🏃♂️🧟♀️
I’ve just been exploring the Zombie Run app and you can add buildings etc to your camp, you tap on the base icon at the bottom, then Build + which shows you what’s available to you, it must be that you earn credits when you run, which is clever 👍
