Not dead, TheOldFellow.

Just to let all you know I am only older, not dead. I am still running, but for some reason the urge to write has gone on vacation. (probably frozen and washed away by the weather)

It didn't help when Parkrun got cancelled due to ice. Not sure I want to run in 50mph winds tomorrow. We'll see.

Happy running.

So glad all is well with you theoldfellow. I think you’d have to be absent a bit longer before i considered that option 😉

Looks like we chose a good weekend to miss parkrun due to UTS hockey and family visiting.

Spring will be here soon. Daffodils, crocus and snowdrops are out here.

Good to hear you’re ok oldfellow. I don’t think many of us manage to keep posting regularly once we’ve been running for longer, so don’t worry if you don’t feel like it for a bit. As Dexy says, Spring’s hopefully not too far off now...😊❤️

Storm Eric could be a problem tomorrow in Scotland and the North of England, not good weather for you to try a sub 30 minute 5k at your Keswick park run, certainly you are a little older, a happy belated birthday to you TOF, just having a little rest from running and writing posts here on C25K, if you do run tomorrow in a strong wind, good luck, but I wouldn't run if the wind is really too strong.

Whew... thought you have be frozen or blown away :) The weather has been.. err... challenging.... ! Glad you are okay and hopeful, for your PR tomorrow!

I think it has been less challenging for us than for many to the north, east and south. We saw the snow on the tops, but none settled here. The main issue was ice. I didn't run in the week with the road outside un-passable due to ice, it takes too long to recover from a broken leg.

I don't think they make ice-running shoes yet 😱

Not sure about PRs when running in a gale, just getting round will be okay. I only ever think about the time in the last half km anyway.

Ice here too, has been my issue... just trying to get out to the snow covered fields has been impossible...I fell on black ice once, years ago and the pain is still something I remember very, very well...now strong winds and torrential rain are making running fun!!!

It has been so bad here, and having had to run so much indoors and using my cross-trainer too... that I quite rashly splurged on a brand new treadmill to replace the old!

Yaktrax are good for ice... but I agree running in a gale is not a plan... I had a narrow squeak a couple of Sundays ago!Large branch fell just in front of me!

I have a feeling my brother has some Innov-8 Iceclaws. He seems to have Mud, Rock and for all I know Daisies Claws

Glad you are ok, sometimes we need a break, we lose our mojo so to speak. I initially started running again to lose weight, now people say aim too thin and need to put weight on, oh the dilemma. Don’t go running in strong winds tomorrow theoldfellow. Think about how you will dislike it and may put you off running again for sometime to come.

I have learnt that the weather forecasts are not reliable here in the mountains. So I will probably get up prepared to run, maybe even drive down to Keswick, and then decide. But your advice is good, I think.

I'd check the weather tomorrow then decide!

I’m hardly contributing either - knee deep in arrangements for moving house. We will be back writing soon I’ve no doubt x

There is nothing like moving house for destroying your inner harmony. Prayers for a safe and trouble-free move.

Glad you’re back on here TOF. This weather isn’t enjoyable is it? Our local parkruns were all cancelled last weekend, and tomorrow I’m volunteering - although with the strong winds forecast I don’t think I’ll be missing much. It’s been a disruptive week, hopefully next week we can all get back into some routine.

Enjoy tomorrow if you can! Stay safe. 👍😀

Good luck tomorrow. That weather sounds grim!

Glad to see you’re back. I think many of us have times when we post often and times when we don’t get in the forum at all. I realised that the times when my mojo goes awol seem to coincide with ruined when I don’t get in here to either post or comment... so I’ve been boring everyone with my posts while I’m trying to re-establish a more regular running routine. 😉

Nice to hear from you again TOF. Mind you, my default is 'reply' rather than 'post', so I can't really talk! Fingers crossed for tomorrow - weather's looking OK down here thank goodness.

Glad I’m not the only person feeling unsure about running in strong winds. I thought I was being a bit of a wimp! But maybe not. I had to turn round the other day in 25mph winds and find a more sheltered route and our Parkrun in Southend is right on the beach! Will see what it feels like in the morning I thin. Tomorrow’s winds are being predicted at 40 plus! Eek! 😕🌪

The wind blew me up a hill I've always avoided today!

Quite glad to be just marshaling in the morning! 💨💨💨💨💨

Hi TOF! Likewise with the writing. As I’m settling into more of a routine, running for longer, and my runs are on Strava I haven’t been posting as frequently on here, but I do love reading about everyone’s progress. Still really inspiring! Weather is not too bad here so am off to Parkrun in a short while. Happy running!

Hi Oldfellow, was thinking I hadn't heard from you for awhile. It's good to have a break sometimes...god to hear you're good. Wonder if you did a Parkrun today? Happy running 🌻

I didn't run today. The wind wasn't as strong as forecast, but I couldn't really judge it until it was too late. Never mind.

Thanks for the thoughts. 💐
