Set off this morning on a 10k which I thought would be so lovely. Weather forecast was for mild, dry weather and my route was flat as a pancake, taking in old landmarks from my c25k days. I decided on a long sleeve top as I had my phone carrier which is annoying in short sleeves but shorts seemed in order according to the met office. I set off with a smile!
I turned into the canal tow path, all was right with the world. The first mile was wonderful, lots of memories of staggering along praying for the next walk part of the app and noting with a grin the trees which had always been cool down target.
2 miles in, I’m starting to not feel the love and it started to rain. 3 miles couldn’t come fast enough and by 4 I was ready to quit. That’s when the snails crawled past! The last 2 were mind over matter. I held on to the ‘slow is better than DNF’ and made it to the end, not a happy bunny.
Really disappointed today, but glad I finished. Definite rest day tomorrow although I am going walking with Alpacas! Time to regroup with the gang for a jolly trail run in the dark on Wednesday night - short and sweet!🏃♀️🏃♀️🙃

Well done for sticking at it Katie. Sounds like my 10k last week when my legs were growing moss - but I gave them a stern talking to and they reluctantly carried me to the end. 💪
Those runs are important as they build mind over matter. I know that if I caved in even once (except if injured), it would be a slippery slope.
So very well done to you today! Have fun walking with alpacas! 🦙 ❤️
Totally agree, give in once and it really is a slippery slope. At 5 miles today I just thought that if I stopped now, I’d have to start the whole 10k over again! Don’t know what was wrong today. Some days are just like that I think. But there’s no such thing as a bad run. 😊
