Hadn't run for a couple of days so was super keen to get out there again. The weather has been atrocious of late, but I am not averse to running in the rain, I so a couple of days back, but my recovering broken shoulder blade ached more then that it had done on previous comeback runs, so took it as a sign that the damp had something to do with the increase in the aching pain.
As soon as there was the slightest lull in the down-pouring today though, I set off, with some sweet sounds going on in my earbuds.
After 20 mins or so, I had not realised it had started to rain again and the shoulder started aching pretty bad again and so, disappointingly, I pulled up and took a shortcut home, walking briskly still of course, just as I have become accustomed to from the C25K programme.
My healing is taking longer than I want and I am being impatient. I love running now and am keen to progress to do a 10k.
I know I must be more realistic and lower my expectation (but not my ambition), so I will. I knew my first comeback run was extraordinary, exceptional in fact, for me.
I need to keep calm and plod on, only running every 2nd or 3rd day whilst the injury repairs.
Folks recovering from injury or ailment take heed; please take your time returning, listen to your body, and the medics of course.
