Skipping 😲

I had began to encorporate it into my non run day workout, it was something I read could aid our running, done due diligence, researching if it was ok in our 50's.. πŸ‘

Started this only a week ago.. got three sessions which I enjoyed, but yesterday just a couple of jumps in..I felt a twinge under my right knee 😳

I immediately stopped, but carried on with rest of my strength training.. without bother, but later in the day climbing stairs I could feel it wasn't right, not painful but knew something wasn't right πŸ˜”

I should have ran my scheduled 5K this morning, but the new Brook's I had bought on Saturday, after running a 12K felt a Little tight round the toes.. done another 10K on Monday and knew I should have got up another half size 😣

So I got them exchanged this afternoon, and was really keen to try them out, set out at tea time ..but as soon as I started running I could feel the strain.. πŸ˜’

So I'm on the dreaded IC hopefully try again on Friday.. but.. I'm not going to be taking any risks.. learned over the years.. a few days out can be dealt with.. patience.. patience..🀣

But.... Arggg I wanna run🀣

So frustrating @sparky66 - but absolutely the right call. Patience…is hard but worth it. You’ll be back out there soon, I’m sure!πŸ€žπŸ™‚

I'm frustrated, not had a niggle in 7 months and I'm in training for the half marathon, but.. I can wait.. love running far too much to rush things ☺️Thanks for your thoughts ❀️

That’s bad luck, do you think the skipping contributed?

sparky66 profile image
sparky66Graduate10β€’ in reply toSueAppleRun

Yes it was definitely the skipping!! 😣

Darn, that’s real bad luck then, hope you heal quickly

Oh Sparky! I know how you feel, you’d better skip (scuse pun!!) running until Friday and then take it easy. Glad you got the Brooks exchanged. I did a 5k fast walk today instead of a run, like you I aim to run Friday. Keep πŸ‹οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ€ΈπŸΌβ€β™‚οΈ

What an annoying thing to happen, hope it's better soon. I had no idea a shop would take trainers back like that. Just shows it's worth a try!

I think it's only specialist Running shops and certain brands that offer this service.. I had a running gait done at 'made to run' and bought ' Brooks' running shoes..

Ah I see. I haven't ever been in one of the specialist shops but I do need new trainers so maybe now's the time πŸ™‚

The shop that I bought mine from said that I could take mine back if I had any problems, but I did have a consultation with them and they'd recommended them - I guess they will take the financial hit once in a while rather than recommend shoes that aren't right for people. Luckily I haven't needed to do that, my new shoes are lovely :)

Yeah it makes business sense and you'll probably recommend to others and go back there yourself. I need new trainers so might try one of these shops πŸ™‚

So frustrating! I normally run today but sadly I have. A twinge knee after my first half marathon at the weekend. Booked into the physio next week so in the meantime it’s just walking and strength training for me too. πŸ˜”. Hope it settles quickly for you.

How rubbish...hopefully with a few days rest you'll be back at it. Nothing worse than the injury couch when you are on a good streak

Speedy recovery πŸ™

Sparky66 I remember that awful feeling as I was out for a few weeks. I was very foolish and tried to keep going...I wss also very rubbish at strength training which is really needed my end

That you quickly recognise the problem hopefully nips it in the bud ...keep us updated tomorrow πŸ™‚

Thanks.. in hindsight I was foolish to try skipping, but lesson learned, Don't overdo things.. I thought with all the running since November my legs would have been strong enough,.. I fear my age (54) is a barrier to certain activities, I'm sticking to the strength training it's definitely invaluable..

Don't feel any ache tonight,so I will gear up in the morning and give it a try, but if anything twinges I will stop ..
