Hi all, I've been slowly working towards 10 miles, following a training plan which has roughly 2x shorter speed/tempo runs and a longer (10k ish, gradually increasing) per week. I'm due to do a 50 minute tempo run tonight, but I'm not sure that it's a good idea. In recent weeks my back has been feeling really weak - not painful, just concave. I guess the issue is with my crappy core strength. I have 2 questions:
1. Should I take it easy tonight, or give it a go?
2. Anyone got good core strengthening tips?
Thanks all!

I'd second James Dunne - this is probably a good place to start on pelvic position and back pain: youtube.com/watch?v=j-UIfv1...
It's also worth looking at hip flexor stretches as a common cause of lower back pain is tight hip flexors forcing the back to overbend. The crucial thing is to do hip stretches with your pelvis in a neutral position - if you're anything like me you will have got into the habit of letting the pelvis tilt forward which will make the problem worse.
Definitely look at James Dunne. It's not just about core but also hip stability and glute strength. His videos have helped me enormously over the last few months and I still religiously do many of his exercises and drills
He makes you analyse the movement of your hips and back and correct postural issues with exercise. Good luck!
