i have been swapping my working days around to accommodate my pupils
always tricky when they go back to college and their timetables change.
so today was a day off.
i have been feeling a little bit better the last few days although nowhere near 100% (not even sure I ever will)
but some relieving news from a chest x-ray done on Friday, it was all clear !
Now although this was a huge relief, I'm still none the wiser as to what is wrong ,
i have long term gastrointestinal issues which are medicated but recently a lot of personal things going on so I wouldn't mind betting that some of the problems are psychosomatic 😐
anyway, enough of all that !
i went out with the intention of just doing another 3k.
so that's what I did
to be honest , it felt tougher than the one I did a week ago but I guess I have to expect this and just go with it
its just good to get any run in at the moment.
it could take me some time to build my run frequency up again , and that's assuming I don't feel any worse.
BUT
There is absolutely no rush , I'm not chasing numbers
so for now , it's just a short run as and when I feel fit enough.
at least my watch behaved today
But need to download some NRC runs again .
so 3k done even if it was tough!

A big well done because these ones are tough. Tough motivational wise because you know that the run may feel hard. It will come back and the only way is regularity which must be tricky with your job. Always positives though and this is your second run and you have a great attitude going forward. It is in there still my man and I look forward to supporting your progress. We're all rooting for you too!!
Very well done Ian. It's difficult coming back at the best of times, physically and mentally but you have so much going on. And like GTFC says its harder if you know, or think, it will be tough But you did it and you should be proud
Glad your xray was all clear and hope you start to feel a bit more like your old self soon 🤗
we’ll done on getting out there again. A run is a run. ATM I’d take anything. Although I’m away on holiday trying not to feel guilty about not running. And taking a rest although still doing a 3-4-5-6 mile walks each day so hopefully not loosing too much fitness.
I know where your coming from. I picked up an awful cold following my holidays back in July. I think it was from air conditioning. I felt really rotten, persistent cough, shortness of breath, and weak. It took 6-7 weeks to get over it along with antihistamines, antibiotics, cough syrup, Ventolin inhaler and steroids. I’m still trying to bounce back by doing some walking and running. It’s so hard trying to build it back up again. I’m in the same boat. But we’ll be back soon, best of luck.
Only just seen this Ian, a big fat well done. I’m sorry things haven’t been too easy, but what a relief that your x-ray came back clear. Hopefully that can narrow things down. Life stuff takes up HUGE amounts of energy doesn’t it, so that’s brilliant you got out. Just running is what it’s all about! I bet the fresh air felt great - way to go 😊😊😊.
But you are back... you ran and you survived... that is a really good run! You know, that I know, exactly, how you felt.
My 3K two days ago, was almost exactly the same as yours, except, because I have been building back for a tad longer, it felt a tad easier. It will come.
You did so, so well, you have had a lot of things going on and, as many, many of us learn, as we move forward in running, the mind can have has much impact on our runs as does as our physical condition!
No rush at all, you are positive and determined and by taking it S and S you know you will get back to the fitness level that is your fitness level
So glad to see you running again and with some health questions answered
The various all clear test results have had a huge impact on how I feel , plus other personal things I have had going on which have now been resolved will all help bring sone normality back to life ! And of course that inckudes the running 🙂🤞
Good to hear you have some re assuring medical results. As for the running, I take the view that any run is better than no run. You are so right about not chasing numbers. The most important thing is just to put your running cloths on and walk out of the door. I always find that once the running togs are on, and I'm outside, I'm happy to then have a go. Don't push yourself to hard when you are building back fitness, your body will let you know when it is ready to do a little more, and if you take it steady then your distances and times will improve naturally, without you noticing. Most important, just enjoy your running and take it easy.
