Guess who's back? Back again! 🀣

Good morning runners! Decided to dust off the runners today for my first run since mid November. Was not injured, can't say I had absolutely no time to run, that would be a lie. Work has been hectic but that's really not an excuse.. For whatever reason I just stopped... But the itch never went away and today I decided to scratch it!

Classic rock on the earbuds, kit on and out for 7am (after an hour's delay to charge the Garmin I'd forgotten to set up) thought I'd just run and see how far I got in my very out of shape state 🀣

In the end I managed an at times painful (left knee) 5k in 30mins. I was frankly amazed i got that far and pleased I could still do it.

Noticed at the end my Garmin had messed up distance and route so I might as well have not worn it/had hour's delay 🀣

I've got a few days off work now so gonna have a long walk in morning and then run again Monday, will have to build back up slowly.

Havnt been on forum or any running apps since November so probably missed all kinds, il be back on daily now so hopefully be able to catch up with how everyone is doing.

Happy Running!

Welcome back and well done!

Hope you don't regret pushing on for a 30 minutes 5K with a painfull knee though especially after 4 months off .

Remember it's not just about your aerobic capacity , resistance to injury will have suffered also.

Take care

Thank you, il certainly be careful. Don't think I could have gone any further and was grateful to reach the finish line. Nice rest now and will see how leg feels over next day or so (no pain since getting home 🀞🏻).

Yes, I fear I’ve spent some of the time (since Oct 2021) on the running injury couch, but switched to a virtual runner avatar that I ran through indoor rowing ! πŸ€£πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«πŸ€ͺ So still identify as a runner! πŸ˜ƒπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ‘πŸ½

Well done I was similar just running twice a month since October. Went out and did 3k and thought, this is, good went out a couple of days later and had to stop halfway, worst run ever, going out again tomorrow, hopefully better results.πŸ™‚

Welcome back. πŸ™‚ 5k in 30 minutes after quite a long gap in running is impressive.

Thank you! It's a way off my best but didn't expect to be quite as quick after the long break. Think I may need an extra recovery day, muscles feel sore today .
