B210K - W5R2 - Altercation 🤷‍♂️

5K 🎯

Odd run today. It took a while to settle into my groove for some reason - I felt like Bambi on ice for the first 2K’s 🤔

I did finally feel in control around the 2.5K mark and Strava was feeding back good stats so I set my sights on the second half of my run for a sub 30 minute 5K.

Around the 4K mark I noticed a woman getting out of her car with her child and pram etc a little too late due to concentrating on my pace. I made to change my direction to avoid her but she went to leave her car for my new direction - so, I changed back to my original route on the flat kerb. Suddenly, she changed her mind and course to back to her car and we narrowly avoided each other.

Of course, this near miss was all my fault in her eyes and was followed with a barrage of abuse 🤦‍♂️

I counted to 10 very very slowly, smiled at her and told her where to go (in my head!) and jogged off. Honestly, people’s self importance and misplaced confidence really does never cease to amaze me!

My spatial awareness is second to none, maybe she (and others) should pay more attention to the world around them as opposed to their phones! This way she would have heard me coming up behind her instead of being completely oblivious!

Grrr 😡 rant over!!!

Hate it when that happens. People can be so rude and so ungrateful of runners attempting to give them space. I tend to give a reproachful glance and spread my arms to say "why?" so well done you for smiling before running off.

It's unfortunate that the few unpleasant persons, like your lady today, make us forget all the lovely people we meet on our runs who give us a happy hello or cheers us on with an encouraging comment.

Well, your unpleasant lady got her knickers in a twist but you held onto yours to run a fabulous 5k, so I think you definitely win the day 😉.

Thanks Grannyhugs 🙏🏻 Yep, still hit my goal - mainly the reason why I just smiled and carried on, I was focusing on the stats!
