Virtually Challenged

Luckily these things are all virtual... last week I thought I’d completed the “You can’t stop New York” challenge on Nike Run Club, but as you can see it was Berlin. Perhaps as well I wasn’t entering marathons this year as I’d have been the only Berlin runner looking for the expo nearly 4000 miles away in Central Park! Anyway, 27.12 miles over the week saw me over the finish line even if I didn’t know where it was! I got top 20% (although there’s some more than dubious results in the top 10 as ever) which I guess means a lot less than half of the people who entered this one actually completed it.

Today sees the start of “You can’t stop London” and also LeJog6. 4.4 miles completed on an easy run this morning. A little added pressure on this week as I have an appointment with the couch on Sunday to watch the elites running laps of St James’ Park... the men’s race looks like it’s going to be a cracker! Can’t see myself running after 8 hours sat down, so I need to be over the line by Saturday evening.

Have a wonderful week everyone.

Hadn’t heard of these challenges. 🤔 Great result - it’s not your fault there were lots of no-shows! Now I’m off to search ‘you can’t stop’.

They’re on Nike Run Club... there was a You Can’t Stop Sport where we all ran x million miles as one big team... now we have London as a solo challenge to coincide with the rearranged and cancelled (public) marathon, and Berlin the same last week. London Marathon themselves are doing a virtual but all 26.2 miles have to be run on Sunday (multiple runs/walks are allowed) I was tempted to enter, but as I’ll be watching the elite races I probably wouldn’t have enough time to get the walks in to complete the miles on top of the 10 I could run.

Not sure I’ve time for that either I’m afraid. Maybe just a personal ‘how far can I go’ challenge!

That’s amazing UNM! What an amazing running week!! 🤩🤩! Well done you!! 🤗

I entered the NRC Can’t Stop Berlin, (just for fun and understanding l couldn’t complete that mileage in just a week 😳), but I did get just over half way. Not bad for me really 😂! So....I was one of those non-complete’ers🥴! You’re rightly placed in the top 20% !! Bravo to you!! 🙌🏽 👏🏽 🎉

I’ve joined in Cant Stop London now too 😂! Thanks for the heads up!! A little stint in the Capital’s will be quite nice, I think 😉😁! We are running all over the world at the moment!! How fantastic 🤩! Run 🌍 🏃🏻‍♂️ 🏃 🏃🏽‍♀️!

And welcome VRB to LEJOG 🇬🇧🙌🏽🙌🏽!! Now, make sure you wave at your VRB if I’m getting lapped 😉...🤣🤣. Enjoy!! ❤️

May be hard to lap you... that’d need me to run 1039 miles before you finish... not that I’ve worked it out of course!!! As I’m going to be attempting 2021 miles next year I’ve decided to use LEJOG to get me into the required mindset... So I won’t be claiming any walking miles no matter how tempting it is to get up the leaderboard!

Ah I wouldn’t have minded. I do have to claim walking steps for any chance of getting there 😳. I’ve got a long way to go before I’d be able to just count my runs, but it’s certainly brought a whole new level thinking in relation to fitness. You don’t know what you don’t know, but when you know...😲. Maybe I can do it differently next year! 😉❤️

I’d love to record my walks on a different account... I don’t walk enough and lejog would help me change that. I think most people will be counting both, I would if it wasn’t for what I’m doing next.

I love the walks too! I had a great walk in the sunshine at another water park yesterday. It was pretty nippy out there but nice!! 😁❤️

I guess I’ll be needing to wear at least a jumper! Got through last winter in T-shirt and shorts mostly as rarely out there when not running! Can’t remember the last time I wore a coat... bring it on.
