Happy weekend. For any of you new graduates whom have started running during COVID-19 world you may have heard of a thing called parkrun. parkrun is a free 5K which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K did it religiously every Saturday morning.
Obviously we can not do it anymore. So until parkrun returns we take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning. We post after our run and let everyone know how we got on. The little run report can be done over a post virtual parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new). It can be run/walked on any route close to you which is 5K. Does not have to be done in a park, you can even do it on a treadmill.
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is a 5K run/jog/walk anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun on the website. I only log Saturday runs, when I remember.
Looking forward to my run later today and also looking forward to hearing from all of you. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

Good morning Damien, this morning I ran my 45th Virtual /32nd (not) parkrun in a temperature of - 2C in a time of 36.55 which is my average time on that course which is only two minutes walk from where I live, I only met a few dog walkers who all said good morning to me, I hope you enjoy your run later today. 😊 🏃🏾
Well done Al. I didn't get to do my run yet. Not long after putting up this post I got a call from a customer and had to go to work on an emergency call out. I did not get home until 9 last night. It snowed here over night, so I will wait until a little later and do my run then.
Hi Damien and friends. 35:58 for me today, my quickest since October 24th. Not PB territory, but it’ll do me. 🙏🏻
The weather has been shocking hasn’t it, and my times have been hit hard. Rain, wind and mud here, but not today. it was much calmer. I started running in thick thick fog, but it started lifting slowly and by the end of my run it was sunny. 🥰
It snowed here too last night. I did not get to run yesterday. I was called out with work and was gone all day. Snow is melting so I will do my run later.
Hello folks, I hope all is going well. Really cold this morning; frosty with the odd lingering patch of ice. I stuck to the roads/ pavement and managed another 5k with my calf misbehaving, but not to the point of requiring a stop. The only incident featured a shih tzu which hurtled out of a gateway yapping at me. A disdainful raised eyebrow, coupled with a "get back", as it was right on the edge of a main road, was sufficient to send it packing; I am masterful with dogs 😂😂.......especially little ones. My time was 34:51. Every 5k run since Christmas, apart from Wednesday's slow 5.5k, has been within a band of 6:54/k and 6:59/k. E.mail to physio Monday I think. 🙂
Happy (not) parkrun day everybody! I waited until the ice had thawed before I ventured out today, although it is still only 2c. My 30th official (not) parkrun and day 23 of RED January. I don’t know what was going on with Strava but my first 500m was about 100m longer than usual and my split time announced as 7.46/km which couldn’t possibly have been right. My 1k time was then announced as 6.50/km meaning my 2nd 500m would have had to be sub 6. No way! I clocked up 5k about 150m from home having turned round at 2.5k and run the exact same route back. Hmmm, puzzling 🤔 Anyway, my best time for quite a while at 32.19 and remarkably consistent splits after the kerfuffle at the start -6.25, 6.23, 6.28, 6.25, 6.28. I’ll take that 😃😃😃 Take care out there!
Very well done Sandie. I will get out later. I'm waiting for the snow to melt. I had to work yesterday following a surprise phone call. So did not run yesterday.
Hiya Damien, hi all! Post shower, post bacon roll reply as usual. We're also having a post 5km run 5km walk now so it's all taking a bit longer. It was cold this morning but I think we were positively balmy compared to some, 3C according to Strava. However, plenty more snowdrops out and swollen daffodil heads aching to burst open, so spring gets nearer every day 🌷
Legs definitely feeling the 23 days of RED this week but general fitness seems to be improving. Not sure I want RED to end but I think my body would appreciate the rest. So I wasn't going to break any records today, 28:36 which I am more than happy with.
All the best to everybody with their running, this time of year is always a bit of a battle but we're all doing wonderfully 👏👏👏😍
Hi everyone, I did my (not) Parkrun by the seaside in Bognor Regis this morning🏖🌊 It was a little bit slippery underfoot in places but not too bad overall. It was a little cloudy but hardly a breath of wind so I was happy with that. In any event, I was very pleased to finish in 29:48. It was ‘World Day of Running’ too apparently, so I earned a lovely medal too🏅
Hi Damien and all - here we are again! Bit anxious about this morning's run as my back's been playing up over the last couple of days. However as it seemed much better, the weather was cold but clear and tomorrow's forecast is for snow or (more likely) sleet, I dosed myself up with some ibuprofen gel and went for it. Saw more runners than usual - we must all have been looking at the weather forecast!
After a gentle first k with no twinges, I turned up the pace a bit and finished in 29.45.
I’m on the IC for a few weeks Damien so no run report from me - although I did do a 5k walk today with Dexy5 and UpTheStanley round a local bird sanctuary!
Hello everyone , I did my not Parkrun yesterday as the sun was shining . Wearing a black top I felt quite warm while running even though it was only a few degrees c with the wind chill. A time of 33.10 for me , the first half being about 15 minutes and a Strava segment PB . You can guess what happened in the second half 😂😂
@upthestanley ran it in 24.55 of course
We headed straight home but rang Oldgirlruns to invite her for coffee and fruit toast after her walk along the beach.
Very well done Dexy and wow, UTS is flying. I had to work yesterday. Did not finish until 9 pm. So missed my run yesterday. Once the snow melts a little more I will do for my run today instead.
Hi- I am on consolidation runs from C25k doing 5k twice weekly now- yesterday was 38:37. I was a bit stressed and dehydrated so this was a minute slower than my pb I did on Wednesday.
Hi all, I'm still treadmill running at the moment as it's too icy round here for me to chance venturing out (I'm a very nervous runner in poor conditions anyway!) but I did a comfortable 6k this morning and am enjoying getting into the pace of indoor running! Can't wait to get back out there though! Hope everyone's keeping safe and warm this weekend 🌨❄🌨👍👍
Very well done. Yes you are dead right. I ran this evening and the paths were very icy and slippery in spots. You could very easily fall if not careful, or even by being careful. Well done on your 6K.
Having missed my run yesterday due to work I got out there and ran 5K this evening. Well I say ran, I actually ran for 2.5K, being very careful due to ice and slippery patches on the paths, walked for 200 meters, ran again, walked a little and ran again. Finished in a time of 34:02. It was very cold, but I was warm after the first kilometer. Good to have it done.
A relaxed 5.4km jog/run intervals from me yesterday. At lunchtime, when I ran, the paths were all clear. My mistake was not accounting for wind chill: there wasn't any!
