Having graduated 10 days ago I’d been getting into a pattern of 3 x 5km runs a week. Had a knee niggle which wasn’t ideal and then 💥 boom 💥 my caring and sharing teenage boys shared with me the heavy cold and aching joints they’d caught last week.
So now I’m in bed, feeling rubbish, wishing I was better (not C19 as I don’t have a temp or a cough and can definitely taste. And thanks to farty Jack Russell puppies I know my sense of smell isn’t impaired 🤪). Monday mornings are my 1st run of the week. For the first time in 12 weeks I’ve not been able to run on run day and I feel like a sulking child.
Perhaps this is what I needed to make sure I gave my knee a rest. But it sucks 😤

I feel your pain. I developed man flu yesterday. I'm sure I'll survive it again this time but it's no running for me either for a couple of days. Your right to take the time to rest. I tried running during a heavy head cold on a couple of occasions before and it set me back even worse. Your body needs all its strength to fight off a cold, so just relax and rest as much as possible, drink loads of fluids and ride it out. We will both be back out there again soon.
I feel like I’m doing the second best thing.....catching up on everyone’s progress here on Health Unlocked and flicking through my ‘Women’s Running’ magazine 😁
Sorry to hear you’re not well... but these things come around to make us rest and let any little niggles recover... hopefully this will be just what your knee needs. Relax, look after yourself, and think about how fresh your legs will be when you next run.
