Today was my long run!!!! Hahaha๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ. But I went off too fast and then set my knees off aching when I ran ( tried to run!) down a long fairly steep hill. Knees havenโ€™t been right since visited Fowey on holiday. Was supposed be using today as a practise for my first ever race next weekendโ€™s Race for Life which I have said I will run. Now Iโ€™m panicking Iโ€™ll have to find another flatter route me thinks for next week and just run that all next week to see how my knees are ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ

No need to worry or panic. You'll be ready and you'll do it! Slow and steady away then after a mile or so you can settle in. Plenty of time ahead to recover ๐Ÿ˜Š

Take it easy Scruff55. Don't overdo it before your race. You're a 60 min runner now. The Race for Life run will be fine and easy just be gentle with your knees. Good luck!

Thanks ๐Ÿ™. I think I panicked during my run as I couldnโ€™t run after going down the hill. Each time I tried to run the pain in my knees was getting worse. So on the end I just walked home!!! โ˜น๏ธโ˜น๏ธ

Think walking home was wise but they might just need some gentle movement and coaxing before your big run next week.

I have some arthritis in my knees and, although running has improved them, sometimes an extra day or two of not running makes them feel more like bending again.

๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™ Iโ€™ve decided on a new route with no hills. Itโ€™s not the going up on hills thatโ€™s the problem itโ€™s the going down so hills are a non starter for me at the mo. Iโ€™ll sort that out after Iโ€™ve done this race next weekend ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคžthanks for your advice Iโ€™ll try some gentle strength exercises this week I think. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธHappy running

Never mind, some runs are like that. Look after your knees!

Thanks will do as Iโ€™ve not had any knee problems before so want to keep them healthy but I think downhills are out for me at the moment ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™ƒ

I have arthritis in both knees and find that a controlled, short stride on downhill stretches helps.
