Yikes! What have I just done?

I have been planning to do 10k, looked for some races but most local ones seem to be within the next few weeks. Then last week I ran 7k that I was really unhappy with (I know, I did it but sometimes we all feel bad about a run for no reason right?!) so I had decided that I would back off a bit and take it really slowly, I haven’t entered a race so no rush!! Yesterday I ran 6k and it felt good, and that little high was my downfall. My sister posted a local race on Facebook and I have entered!!! It’s a 5 mile, so definitely not as bad as 10k, but it is only seven weeks away. I think I have completely lost the plot 😂

I'd say u be fine. (but I'm no expert!!) 😊😊 seriously You've got 7 weeks. Go for it 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

that sounds like a good compromise. I know what you say about 7km, it definitely feels much further than the 6km. You'll be fine for the 5 miles by then I am sure

Planning to just take it a bit slower. Aim for +0.5k each week instead of 1k. That gives me 4 weeks to get to 8k then three weeks to make it comfortable. And of course it doesn’t actually matter if I have to walk some of it.

yeah sounds good. I think 0.5km leaps are plenty big enough.

Go go go! Well done you, that’s terrific. I’m sure you’ll have a fab time and what an excellent goal to work towards. Happy happy running days.

Woohoo E27, you’ll smash 5 miles I have no doubt 😁

Excellent! If you can run 7k now (even at a struggle) and are comfortable with 6k, you will be fine with 8k (5miles) in 7 weeks. I just did a 5mile race two weeks ago as a stepping stone to my first 10k in June. I had only ran 5miles once before and did have to walk some, but I’m still glad I did it. Good luck!

You’ll be fine. 5 miles will fly by with other people around you. Don’t get sucked in to their starting pace though and knacker yourself in the first mile! Run your own race and enjoy yourself.x
