Run with sore thigh

I finished C25K last week and I am carrying on running for 30mintes a day Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

On Tuesday I don’t think I stretched enough after running and my thigh is really sore. I fight through it and went for a run today but both thighs are now sore that it’s a bit painful when I go to sit down.

My question is if it’s still sore Saturday is it best to still run and fight through the pub as I don’t want to lose fitness in the hard work I’ve done but I don’t know if I will be giving myself more injury

I'd definitely take a couple of days off! You won't lose fitness from a day / a week off. Also the risk if you keep going, despite the pain, is far higher than missing a couple of running sessions!

That’s great thank you. I was just a little worried as I’ve only been running for 2 and a half months and didn’t want my fitness or mentally to go down

TOP SECRET! You are allowed to do stretches and other exercises on a rest day. Don't let anyone else know I told you that. 😉

☺️ thank you. I didn’t think of that. I will try to find some stretches I like as I haven’t found many that suit me well

Running through injury is never a good idea. Take some rest, if you do decide to run on make it a slow, short one. If the pain is still there see a sports physio for advice before it turns into a long term injury. Take care 🤗

Sounds like your thigh muscles are a little too tight. I had this issue a couple of weeks ago. It was my right hamstring. Buy a foam roller and spend a little time each day doing some exercises over the sore area. Especially after a run. I would take an extra rest day. Get a foam roller, look up a couple of YouTube video's so as you know how to best use it. Take it very easy for your first couple of runs. Don't try to run through the discomfort if it gets very sore. You should be fine again in a couple of weeks.

Yes, I can also recommend foam rolling. I never had an issue with too tight muscles, but I think this is because I catch them with my foam rollers before they become too tight.
