I had to take a pic of them in the washing basket as I’d forgotten earlier before my run. My friend was coming for coffee at 10 so I thought I had plenty of time this morning and the forecast yesterday said about 16 degrees at 8 so I thought I could just about cope with that but boy!!! Was it hot??? Yes it was!!! According to Garmin Connect it was only 15 when I ran... but I beg to differ!!! I even had to walk for a minute 3 times!!!! And I usually can run 5k without walking
It was really stuffy. And there was low cloud most of the way round so that seemed to have trapped the heat. Today was my 5k for week 3 of Magic Plan and I’m so glad I did the 7k on Sunday. I would not have managed it today.
Whether it was because everything I drank yesterday evaporated ( and I drank gallons of water yesterday!!) or what but my legs were so tired and heavy and I really struggled with the last half of the run. Gone were my speedy runs of last week, although my 1st and my 5th ks were under 8 min/km,the middle 3 definitely weren’t!!! Back to just over 40 mins again. 😜heyho!! I still ran 5k so who cares!! And it was a nice quiet morning run- not too many people about - just a few school kids walking through the Park towards Park School....and I enjoyed the peaceful time.
Got home and showered with a plan to whiz round with the hoover and put my stuff in the washing machine before Gemma arrived and she turned up half hour early. There was I dressed ( luckily) but still red faced and sweating. It takes me some time to cool down after a run so we took our coffees out in the garden and had a good old catch up.
She’s been rushing round frantically cleaning because it was her first morning of a new dog walker “ the Fairy Dogmother” Love that name ... who is coming to take Shelby out for a good run while her Mumma gets on with her college work today. This will normally be her 2 full days at college ( Tuesday and Wednesday) so she didn’t want Shelby “ home alone” all day and this was the first days trial. Gemma was very nervous. She said it was nearly as bad as last week which was her 4 year olds first week at school. 🤣🤣
So we chatted in the garden till 11 and it was still stuffy and then when she left I came in to get ready as today was supposed to be fine all day and I had plans with my son to walk the other end of the Tarka Trail towards Fremington Quay, forage some blackberries and rose hips on the way, get an icecream when we got there and get a lift back with my daughter when she finished work. And as I came downstairs again the skies opened and it chucked down with rain for a good half hour. ☹️and on and off ever since. So looks like the walk might be off for today.
Oh well I might do some sewing instead then...
Happy running folks 😌💕🏃♀️

How strange.....just reading your post and thinking ‘no rain here’ (W Somerset) and then I could hear plip plop outside the back door!! I didn’t know rain was forecast today 🤔.
Love the Fairy dogmother ❤️🐶🐾🐾 Well done on your run, last week I ran in the afternoon after work, and it was sooo humid, phew I could hardly run but managed a very slow 5k.
Lovely leggings! No rain here in sunny Surrey - hope its cooler for my run tomorrow !🤞 I reckon it was the heat that made this run tougher for you - I found my Sunday long run tough in the warmth, compared to the previous cool weekend! 🙂
Yeah we did but by the time it stopped raining it meant we just walked to where my daughter was picking us up when she finished work. The walk was nice but no time to forage. Maybe today ....
Love the leggings! Also love the sound of the walk you didn't have, hope you manage it soon. What do you do with the rosehips? I've never thought of foraging them!
Yeah as Jell6 said rosehip syrup. I made it 2 years ago and we didn’t have one cold through that winter. I had a spoonful a day at breakfast. My daughter had hers as a hot drink. Last year she had elderflower cordial as a hot drink and had no colds. Whereas I didn’t and had that nasty virus that knocked me out for 3 months and I am still feeling the effects of 8 months later!!
So this year it’s Rosehip syrup again. Bit fiddly but worth it I think. They used to give it free at the baby clinics weekly when my sister was a baby ( I used to have the NHS OJ which was really concentrated and mum made that into a hot drink in the winter. And Virol daily - made with Malt and vitamins.. yummy).
Of course, rosehip syrup! I have a vague memory of it now you mention it. I usually make elderflower cordial, but I was incapacitated when they were in flower this year. I've made some damson vodka though, that should stop a cold in its tracks! Hic!
Virol sounds, umm, lovely - 😬 you're welcome to it!
I’ve made elderberry port again this year. Now that IS yum!!! I’ve made it the last 2 years and last years batch when we had the last bottle had gone sparkling!! Really nice!!! And I still have some 3 or 4 bottles of 2018 sloe gin.
Virol surprisingly tasted good - think there was honey and other stuff in it too. Mum managed to get home of some when my boys were small (40 ish years ago) but it has vanished by the time my daughter came along 9 years later.
