So today was week 2 of the 60 min magic plan. I set out to do 39mins which I didn't think would be soooooo hard! My legs would just not move, literally every 100 metres I had to stop, walk for about 20 secs and start again. So frustrating, I kept telling my legs off, saying they can run and it was mind over matter but they had a different idea and flatly refused to move. Yesterday I thought I'd drank enough as I've heard that heavy legs can be dehydration but wondering if the lunges and squats a few days ago didn't help. What a totally frustrating run, I kept going but so disappointed ,,☹️☹️🏃♀️
Such a frustrating run, Legs made of concret... - Bridge to 10K
Such a frustrating run, Legs made of concrete!☹️☹️
At least you kept going! That’s the biggest battle as it often feels so easy to give up. Put that run behind you, tick it off the plan, and feel good for moving on 😀
I should be starting W2 today as well, but have niggly pains in my hip and foot. May go for the short 15min run, just to feel like I’ve done something this weekend.
Slowly but surely does it. We’ll get there before Xmas!!😍
Try not to be too disappointed - we all get runs like this sometimes. It could be the squats and lunges if these were new to your routine? Best thing is not to overthink it (ok, easier said that done, I know!). The next one will be better! 🙂🤞
You’re doing great, this is just a blip. If you don’t regularly do squats and lunges to the degree you did them recently then that sounds like it could be contributing. Or, it could just be one of those days. Happy running 🤗
Thank you, think it's just one of those days unfortunately. Hopefully the next run on Monday will be better ,🏃♀️😆
Oh no Hedgehogs123🤦how frustrating for you! Some days are just.like that. Don't overthink it. Just treat as a blip. I'm sure you're next run will be back to normal. 🤞
Be kind to yourself... we all have days like this and you stayed out and did it...you could have turned back home but you didn't so....big well done for that
Probably tired legs from the previous workout. You are correct that it's mind over matter. Fatigue and pain both occur in the brain. Muscles cannot feel anything. Look at a steak and try and decide if it's got any idea how it feels. If a run is hard slow down. You don't have to stop. There's a whole host of chemical and electrical signals telling your brain you need to stop but they're being sent from a steak.
Thank you, excellent advice 🏃♀️🏃♀️
