struck by a stitch!! w4 5km run

After feeling so happy from the long run of this week (my first 8k!!), I thought the relatively shorter, 5km would be a breeze this morning - it was not!!

First off, my earphones decided to not work, and considering I usually run with music maybe did make things harder. I continued but somehow time passed by so slowly! At km 2, I was hit by such a bad stitch - which I haven't gotten since w1 / 2 of C25K!! It's funny, because my pace wasn't faster than usual. The stitch stayed with my for a solid km!! And i had to walk a little too. Despite the difficulties, I continued and by km 4 / 5 I was feeling a lot better, but time still passed pretty slow all around.

Nonetheless, it's today's run completed!! On a good note I realise when I came back I'm not out of breath, no panting, and despite feeling tired and beluga all the way, I still managed to run5k in under 30 minutes!

Not all are easy, and I've found the tricky runs strike at the oddest times. Lets hope the short / speedy run of this week will go better :)

There are arguments as to what causes a stitch. Some say it comes from eating a short time before running, and some say it's down to hydration.

So try to avoid eating around 2 hours before your run and make sure you drink plenty of water the day before your run.

Ahhh maybe I ate too close to going out running!

thank you for the insights!!

Real credit here! Well done, battling through shows us what we are really capable of. To go under 30 with a walk in the run is insane!

I started by feeling sad for you then read 5k under 30min. I'd call that a great run. Ok you may have struggled a bit, nobody says every run will be super easy and really enjoyable. You did great, well done. Happy running 🤗

I’ve only had the stitch a few times and find that doing long deep breaths help to ease it. Well done on sub 30 5k though.

Wow under 30 minutes that is impressive and without music with stitch too
