One of those treacle runs.

So, after being all chuffed with my recent 13k and a really lovely 6k at the weekend during our first stay-away since lockdown (yes, I packed running stuff!!), headed out today.

Awful, awful 5k. Just like moving through treacle, not that I ever actually tried that 😆. At one point, I looked down at my feet to see if they were actually moving as I just felt so heavy and slow! So just stopped at 5k.

But here’s the thing, still glad that I did it. A run’s a run.

Well done! As my wise (sometimes 😉) cross-country-runner-husband used to say, training to run also includes training to run in all situations, e.g. when you’re feeling grotty or fit, when it’s sunny or rainy, hot or cold, a known route or a new discovery, when you’re the lone runner or when you’re in a crowd...

I’m still working on quite a few of these, but you smashed some of these today!! 👍🏼👏🏾👏🏾

Aw, what nice encouragement! It was like being in a comedy sketch, I was moving but not moving!

Ugh, I sympathise, my last one was one of those. However, going on the basis that for any runner some runs will suck (Coach Bennett said that so it must be true!), I console myself with the thought that at least that's one of them out of the way!

Much as we like the 13k run, there’s something about digging deep to the end of a shorter run that gives me a buzz. When I beat the toughest of runs I really see what I’m made of. Be damn proud of this 5k... it says that you’re strong in six foot high block capitals. Well done.

I think most of us have been there. Just move on and make sure you hydrate well the day before running. Good luck!!

You still ran a 5k Leosmit even though it felt tough but you were tougher. Enjoy the rest of your holiday 😊😊

Absolutely! Sometimes we have heavy legs and it aches but stopping at 5k is still creditable 😊 love the fact you took running stuff with you. Slow is good though and ideally, 80% of all your runs will be slow. More miles down so rest up and go again! 🎽

Love that name 'treacle run' Leosmit. I will now name my 'not so good runs' that and at least it will make me smile afterwards! 😁 Thanks for that!
