This week saw 3 years since I started my journey with running. Not quite as I would have planned it. I seem to be out of breath so quickly at the moment! Still at least the desire to get out and run is still there.
I think I probably tend to beat myself up so with this in mind I look back to the start of my journey. If I compare myself with myself -1year then things do not look great but -3years and I have come a long way. When I started, probably, like so many of us I could barely run for 60 seconds, now I am moaning because I cannot run for 60 minutes. Things are improving again and that is all I can hope for. This week saw only 2 runs where others have had 3 or 4.
My plan to increase my stamina are having some positive results although it doesn't help that Mr Garmin says otherwise!! Still no matter what Mr Garmin says it's always nice to get out for a bit of a run - I wouldn't have said that 3 years ago!!
Happy running all.

Definitely lots to be really positive around. Every time you lace up it's a victory. Don't compare with others, we are all different and you are still getting out there three years down the line which is really positive. I'm saying a big 'Well Done' to you. Longer, slower...much slower runs are the future.
Thanks - slower certainly gets me to the end. I have a Derby HM end of November (deferred since June) I am beginning to think I may need to bail out but the option of Jeffing it is still out there!!
Happy running indeed, garmin can only measure some physical values, there are a whole lot on mental and emotional side effects and benefits which are equally as important. You are doing great. Here’s to the next 3years. 🤗
The last 5 months has had all sorts of effects on us Richard7 so don’t worry if you feel you aren’t doing so well. You are doing brilliantly just by getting your togs on and getting out of the door.
Have you tried running by heart rate ? I tried it last year when I was training for the great south run and although UpTheStanley lost the will to run with me at such a slow speed I found it really beneficial.
Keep on putting one foot in front of the other and enjoy the fact that you can run. 🏃♂️👏👏
I did give the old Heart Rate running a go. Last year I did some and recently again after reading one of your posts (I think). The outcome was slow but I don't have the patience to do it consistently. I try and mix my runs up a bit to get some variety but just recently as I have been working on deliberate gradual increase of time I am focused on that.
