10th parkrun and end to an epic week of running!

I've enjoyed a week off work with little planned so upped my running somewhat. I started with 8k night run with the running group on Tuesday night which was longer than I originally planned to go.

Thursday afternoon I had planned to do a second 10k and stuck with this, I kept it slow and even stopped to admire a pure white Egret on the river. 😍 I knocked around a minute off last week and made sure I rested and did strength work to stop the knees complaining on Friday.

Saturday was a very wet parkrun, although I realised just before we set off that the jacket would have to go round my waist! I haven't yet forked out for a running jacket but found a very nice cycling jacket I used to wear which is so far doing the job and hopefully Santa will bring me a new running jacketπŸ˜€

I realised quite quickly that I did not have the legs this week and there would be no new PB, also due to the wet conditions the route was changed to the winter course which means rather than a lovely circular route including going round a huge Uni field, we do three laps around the river. It's good for watching the front runners streaking past but means less room to manoever and difficulties with dog walkers and cyclists all trying to share the same path respectfully.

On the second leg round I tried to avoid the huge puddle on the path by running over the grass and found out too late that it was totally waterlogged and now have the answer to how it feels to run with soaking trainers! πŸ˜‚πŸ™„

So I finished over a minute off my time last week but I've run 23k this week and I'm just about still standing so very pleased with that and planning to start increasing the long run next week.

Hope everyone has a fantastic running weekπŸ˜πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Sounds like you had a great week's running Crawlhome! At this rate you will need to change your name to Bouncehome! Hope the shoes dry out well 😁

Nice to have a week off to enable some concentrated running Crawlhome. I sympathise about the soaking trainers - our parkrun goes through an underpass which gets flooded after wet weather so no alternative! All the best for your gradual increase this week

Ooh I didn’t know that JonathanP. I will bear that in mind when we next visit lakeside.
