Finding focus in the heat

So after finding that I needed a focus after a few consolidation runs following C25K so I didn’t give up, I thought let’s give JuJu’s magic plan a go. I did week one and then the heatwave! So I have spend the past three runs limiting it to 3k so I don’t keel over and today completed 5k in 22° heat and humidity.

I don’t know how some of you (as I know there are some out there braver than me!) run in anything hotter than that this morning. I’m not a fan of the ‘I don’t sweat I sparkle’ phrase but this morning...shinier than a dolphin 🐬

So with a 3k & 5k in the bag from this week I’ve decided to call this week 2 and do a 6k this weekend. I’ve done 6k before so what have a got to lose?!

Have a good weekend everyone 👍🏻

Great running Rosieg87. I've now ran in 2 winters and 2 summers. Don't worry it does get better. Enjoy your weekend 6k 🌞🏃‍♀️

Thank you! I’m starting to accept that pace considerably slows when it’s hotter so I have stopped checking it and just concentrate on distance now

Good run and well done for tackling the heat and humidity... love the sparkle phrase 😂... might use it myself ! That said I was out at 5.15am and after 40 mins looked more like I’d be swimming than running !! ... cannot imagine going out later with humidity and even hotter!

Think good call on calling it a day this week ... thinking of doing the same

Well done. We should all pat ourselves on the back for running at all on the heat!

Great start to the plan in the heat, cooler here in Scotland but I still ended up with sweat pouring off me in the humidity yesterday. Good luck with your 6k, dont add any pressure like a particular speed and think cooling thoughts - love your ski photo, imagine yourself back there. Happy running 🤗

Thank you. Oh what I’d give to be back in Val this week!

Some time you will get there, just be very grateful of the skiing you've done and enjoy those freedom days, nothing like it.⛷🤗

Good luck! Like you I can't run in this heat (or if I do I'm very slow) so haven't been out running for 2 weeks and just started JuJu's plan today - mainly motivated by the fact that it was a bit cooler and the first run was only 2.5k! Lets hope the weather stays cooler for us and good luck with your 6k!
