It was pretty silly of me really - I started off quite early to do 7km on the Magic Plan and it was gorgeous with a gentle breeze and not too hot. I got to my normal turning point feeling slow but quite good (no back problems) and started to wonder if 10k was doable. So instead of sticking to my plan I just carried on. I admit to the last 2k being pretty grim and it was a bit embarrassing to see my neighbour zooming passed with a cheery greeting - but she’s a LOT younger than me! And has been running forever. And isn’t carrying my excess poundage. C’mon OGR, no more excuses... But having got that far I was determined to finish and folks, I did! In all it took me 1hr 50 mins so it was getting pretty hot by the time I finished - I’ll go out even earlier next time!! I’m now feeling human again after a shower, brekky and coffee! And feeling quite chuffed at my 2nd 10k! Happy running folks!

Good luck with that, I hate going anywhere with people, I guess that's the beauty of running. I did a bank transfer for my 3 year old nephew a couple of weeks ago as his parents wanted to buy a mini climbing frame so this added to their cash pot.

Second 10k well done you! I'm a big believer in seeing how you feel on a run and going with it. As you got to a certain point and felt ok to carry on then that's great and a positive sign too. Sometimes the last bit can be tough but you got through and now the day is yours to feel pleased and proud. Well done 🥂

Brilliant! There seems to be something in the air at the moment that's making folk go for it 'off plan'. I went for it after one 9K run. Those last 2k's were grim for me too. But you made it from 7K!!!!! That's fantastic. Enjoy the glow.

I am afraid I have been largely skulking in the shade or indoors since it got hot on Friday but am eyeing the cooling weather and thinking maybe I will be able to run some day soon. Maybe tomorrow morning, else it will have to wait for our (not) parkrun appointment.
Yes, if I’d planned on doing 10k to start with I would probably have started at 6 rather than 6.30 ! Although I’m getting out of the 5.15 commuter wake up time habit!

Wow! That’s a great achievement. I’m still finding myself pretty daunted by these longer distances. I’ve done a couple of 8ks but I haven’t done 10k since March. I like your way of slipping it in because you are feeling ok. Maybe I should see if I can fool myself like that! Hope you are feeling very proud of yourself and have a suitable celebration in mind!

well done you! I am inspired to complete my first albeit very slow 10km, I did 4km today and it took me 45 minutes it is very hot here at the moment and humid. I did start off at 6.30 when it was cooler - and I hadn’t set out to do it, it just sort of happened! But you’re right, in this heat it’s bonkers (with apologies to those who don’t have the heat that we do at the moment!).
