So, in the few weeks leading up to graduation, and since, my asthma had increasingly been a real problem. I have chronic hayfever and sinuses on top of this, and the pollen has been insane in London the past few months, so all this was written off as that, and I took to doing my runs increasingly early in the morning, obsessively monitoring the Met Pollen forecast, doing yoga on my rest days, taking more rest days in between runs, upping my asthma and hayfever meds etc...and eventually nothing was working, and in fact was getting worse. ** I have to add, I was being very, very careful and only went out to run on days when I felt I was ok, and stopped the very second I wasn't. ** So I was given a pretty hasty referral to one of the new Respiratory Hot Clinics and guess what? I have been running with not only scarring from probable COVID (was tested, don't have it now, but was sick way back in Jan/Feb, before we thought COVID was in the UK) and have a lung infection on top of that...! So, currently having all of this nuked out of me with some powerful meds, and taking a good, good rest. But looking forward to getting back out to properly do my consolidation when actually have two fully functioning lungs. As my Consultant said, "Imagine how fast you will be when you can breathe!". So, if anyone else is having problems with your asthma, do take it seriously, and it might be worth checking in with your Dr again. Hope you are all very, very well. xxx
