I challenged myself to run for an hour on August the first . We were married 50 years ago. Only one of us is still alive. I managed to complete , and ran without stopping for 7k so I am pleased with that. Thank you here for your support. I couldnβt have done it without you. I must try to devise another challenge now πΌ
Golden wedding Anniversary today!: I... - Bridge to 10K
Golden wedding Anniversary today!
Wow! So inspiring and so rewarding too. Well done today because it's hot, there were emotions behind it and you ran without stopping. The 'Running' chapter of your life is going to be a very special one. I wish you a day full of gratitude and positive, caring thoughts. Thank you for posting π
What an inspiring post Gwyrdd and congratulations on completing your challenge to mark such a special day. ππΌπ·Make sure you claim your 60 minute graduate badge. βοΈ
Iβm looking forward to reading about what your next challenge will be π.
Thank you Delly. At present one hour is enough, and I donβt want to carry water, so maybe I can try shorter than 7k but try to be faster .Any ideas?πΏ
Your post has inspired me this morning Gwyrdd.
Itβs been a strange week for our family, some lovely highs and some lows, but nothing we canβt get through. As a result though, Mymojo (as my mojo has become known in my posts), went into hiding on Tuesday which is very unusual for her and I need to get her back. Reading your post made her peek her head out from behind the sofa and give herself a talking to.
You are doing brilliantly. Reaching your 60 minute goal is a fantastic achievement. Iβm working on it too.
I find having something to work towards is really helpful.
If you are thinking of speeding up, have you considered signing up for Parkrun? I know it isnβt running at the moment but they have set up a virtual (Not)Parkrun on the local event websites for people to log their times. You can enter your time for any 5k run that week, so you can run on any day, it just logs your fastest time of the week. It might be a nice motivator if you are working on speed?

What an amazing achievement on such a significant day. I'm sure it has caused a number of emotions but hopefully you're super proud of your achievement. Really inspiring, well done you π
What a lovely post, and great 7k run so inspiring for us all. Keep running and that focus and determination will shine through. πππ
What a lovely way to celebrate your anniversary and well done for setting yourself that challenge, doing the work and achieving it that's brilliant. My husband died several years ago and I set myself the challenge of graduating from C25k on his birthday. It makes a day that could be tinged with sadness filled with achievement and positivity.
Have a wonderful day xx
Hello Gwyrdd,
I have just read over some of your previous posts. Well done to you! I wonder what percentage of the population of those at your age can run non stop for one hour. Absolutely brilliant! Congratulations! Very well done to you! Just excellent!

I also wonder what your husband would say and also what your friends think of your amazing achievement. I'm 63, but have older friends and I am thinking of one lady who is 75. I could not imagine her running at all, let alone for 1 hour. Many congratulations! I do hope that I can run non-stop for one hour when I am your age.
I think you deserve a bouquet of flowers both for your amazing achievement and as your remember your Golden Wedding Anniversary. πΉπΈπΊπΌπ»π·π
Here's to lots of happy injury free running. πππ»ββοΈ
Thank you for going to the trouble to send such a lovely supportive reply.I think my husband would have preferred running to dressing up in a wedding suit .
Was your husband a runner? Or perhaps he was an all round sporty type. I am sure that he would be delighted with your running achievements. ππΈππ»ββοΈ
I see that you were thinking about a new challenge. How about going for 10km!?

I see that you have the 60minGraduate medal π by your name! Well done to you! It looks great by your name! What an amazingly way to mark the day that would have been your Golden Wedding Anniversary! Enjoy your time on the graduates' podium. I am not quite sure about what you mean by, 'I couldn't find the buttonπ€.' You replied in the right place and our lovely admin team looked after you as they do. π
Enjoy the rest of the day! I can remember the after glow of achieving 10km stayed with me throughout the day. Have you planned to celebrate in any way?

Congratulations on an amazing and inspiring achievement, and a very moving post.. you sound as if you are a wonderfully determined and positive person.. I look forward to reading your posts about progress on your next running challenge, whatever it may be..maybe walk/run a particularly beautiful route for your next holiday?..π
Thank you! Determined and positive ? Thank you. As you must know,it is a learned skill.. A bit like learning to run , I suppose
Well done, thatβs such a lovely thing to do, and it must also be so very hard for you on this special day.
Thatβs wonderful Gwyrdd, what a special challenge and wonderfully executed. Congratulations on your fantastic achievement π€ΈββοΈπ€ΈββοΈππ₯³
Quite a day for you today, sending you a big virtual hug π€
Thank you
You are an inspiration. Big love for this special day. Congratulations.
That is a great thing to do and a wonderful way of celebrating a very special day. Iβm sure your husband would be very proud of you. Xx
Such an inspiration, and a lovely way to mark a special day x
What a lovely thing to do to mark your big anniversary. That's brilliant achievement as well - welcome to the 1 hour club!
Many congratulations on your 50th anniversary run, how lovely. I ran on my 35th last Saturday. Who'd have thought all those years ago on our wedding days that at some time way in the future we'd mark the occasion with a run. Happy running π€
What a lovely idea. My parents recently 'celebrated' their Diamond Wedding anniversary - only one of them is still alive and the other one very hard to tell how she feels, so their daughters remembered quietly by themselves.
What a lovely way to celebrate your special day.
Why not move on to the 10k distance plan? That's what I did after I got to the 60 mins. I also got to 7k so I started on the following week on the Magic Plan where the long run is 8k.
Thank you. Yes ,good idea.Iβll try the distance plan when I have consolidated a while . you ran the 10 k , I see. It Seems a very long way away for me .. at one hour 20 minutes perhaps. But running longer than 60 seconds seemed impossible in March
Iβll try the longer run on alternate weeks and see how I go.Thanks for your help
That is so amazing and inspiring ππ»ππ»ππ»
Fantastic achievement - well done !
Thatβs a fabulous run Gwyrdd. And what a beautiful day for your anniversary. I am sure your husband walks beside you every day in every way and will always be with you. β€οΈ
Yes ,that is certainly true in my mind, Wimborne. He is running in front of me , not beside me- that is far too slowπ
Wonderful! What a marvellous way to mark an anniversary that must have a lot of sadness for you as well as lots of joy. I love the way older folk (I hope you don't mind me putting you in this category) can teach us all a lesson: keep learning, keep setting new goals, keep having adventures. God bless you, and many happy runs to you! xx
Many congratulations to you Gwyrdd on your Golden Wedding run! The world needs more people with your attitude
