Hi you lovely runners!! I hope you are all doing well and staying safe...

I just wanted to follow up my post about me being on the IC...well, there is now a decent sized gap for someone else’s bum coz I am OFF!!! Not that I’m wanting anyone else on there obviously, I want you all out there running & enjoying yourselves, I’m just saying that there is room if you need a little rest...& there are some lovely people on there that will keep you safe and keep your mojo in your pocket 😊.

Today is international day of friendship and I feel I have made many, many friends since my running journey began and I treasure them everyday & so thankful I found this forum ❤️.

So I have had 6 runs now, the very first one last week was scary, baby steps...I was very, very careful & did a run/walk which worked a treat...I resisted the urge to keep going as the feeling of okness (made up word) was strong...a couple of days later, another run/walk..a little bit further and more okness...and so on...building up gradually and being very sensible for me!!

The last two runs have felt fabulous...I hitched a lift on Monday morning with DaddyCav and ran home, covering just over 6k in the absolutely pouring down rain, the kind that has people in their cars looking at you like your bonkers!! There was a bin wagon on the road and as I stopped to tighten my ponytail and take my jacket off he shouted out ‘I BET YOU WISH YOU’D NEVER SET OFF DONT YOU’??? You just can’t explain to some people can you? So i just smiled and waved...🤣 I was soaked to the skin with still about 4K to go and I was having a ball!!! One of ‘those runs’ that sees you free of the IC and free to splash in the puddles and smile inside at passers by in their nice warm cars...

Thank you all for your kind thoughts while I’ve been testing my knee...I am so happy to be back...and if I’ve left you on the IC I will take you out in my pocket whenever you want to come xxxx

Happy running everyone...and happy friendship day to you all xxxx

That’s brilliant news Mummycav ! 😊 That first run back is always fraught with extreme caution and a bit of terror 😱

I love the sound of your run and can just imagine the driver. They know nothing, bless 🙂

Welcome back 🏃‍♀️🙂

Thank you Irishprincess , that’s what I thought “oh bless him”!!

I was really worried on my first outing and messaged my physio friend to tell her that I’d been out and she told me to keep on doing the run/walks for as long as I needed and not to be worried about a bit of discomfort so that’s what I did and now here I am, all better 😊 x

Great run for you Mummycav

after your injury, despite the rain ☔ you enjoyed your run today, that is the main thing, don't worry about people in their warm cars thinking that you are bonkers, last week after I ran my first 10 miles run in the rain ☔ I was also soaked to the skin, walking past the shops on my way home only dressed in a T Shirt and shorts while everyone else were dressed in waterproof clothing, they may have thought that I was bonkers but that didn't worry me, I was so happy that for the first time ever, I had ran 10 miles without any walking breaks or stops. 😊 🏃🏾

That is FANTASTIC AlMorr ...what an achievement?! You must still be buzzing from it?! And maybe only just drying out 🤣🤣 ? Congratulations to you!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Mummycav

It took less than 24 hours to dry out, it's the only time my blue running shoes have leaked a little, in September I hope to buy a pair of proper running trail shoes so I can run in muddy conditions. 😊 🏃🏾

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to AlMorr

We’re waterproof AlMorr so no need to worry about getting wet in my humble opinion...trail shoes sound just the ticket for you, you’ll be venturing everywhere I bet?!

Really love this. You can hear your levels of chuffedness (my made up word) in being back out there!!

So glad you’re back MC! Those baby steps did the trick it seems. That’s fantastic news! 👏👏👏

I love love love running in the rain, the harder the better and, like you, I love splashing past drivers or walkers and watching their faces! It’s the best isn’t it? 💦

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to cheekychipmunks

Thank you cheekychipmunks , I must’ve done something right with the first few runs because I can’t even tell that there was anything wrong!

The rain is fantastic, I think Daddycav let me out of the van reluctantly although he knows I don’t mind the rain at all but it was very heavy...but I’m waterproof unlike my flippin jacket! And yes, the faces people pull are hilarious 🤣💪🏻😉 x

I also love running in the rain when everyone else is running for cover, they don't know what they're missing, makes you feel alive!

Happy Friendship Day xx

My mum always used to quote “we come waterproof you know!”

Well done on your run, great to have you up off that couch x

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to Vonb

That’s so true...there was a runner sheltering under a tree opp my house yesterday and I thought why??? Just run, it’s a fantastic feeling...

Thank you, as much as I loved the company I’m glad to hop down 😉

Run/walks one of the best ‘cures’ ever, the great thing is they make you feel as though you haven't totally stopped running. A great morale booster, and so is this post. Glad you’re off the IC well and truly. Psst can you send me some rain/coolness please. 7am it was 27 degrees here...

Take care love JCR XX

Ah, another knee recoverator (seems to be a day for making up words). Great news that you are back! I am 9 runs into my comeback after struggling with my knee since April. Like you I kept running, and then I had fall and that was it! Physio has me all sorted now, although I have probably created a world shortage in KT!

Anyway, look out world the Mighty Cav is back!! 👏👏👏👏👏🙂🙂🙂

I like made up words!!! And I’m so glad you’re back too Beachcomber66 but ohhhhh, you’ve had a tougher recovery than me, falling is terrifying!!!! Mighty Cav...I like the sounds of that!!! X

in reply to Mummycav

Thank you Mummycav, me too I’d love to meet and run with my VRB’s one day, ....how do I mention someone when I post, I’ve been putting @ in front of their user name but it’s not working, what should I be doing?

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to

If you’re on the app you can’t tag someone by using the @ sign, you have to be online x

in reply to Mummycav

That’s what I thought, yes online, it doesn’t seem to work 🤔

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to

@jorgeRuns....like that, no gaps and a drop down box should come up below then you just click on the username you want to tag??

in reply to Mummycav

Yes the drop down box isn’t coming up for me, it has in the past, just tried again to edit my last post where I am trying to mention Roxdog and now it’s worked!

Mummycav profile image
MummycavAdministratorGraduate10 in reply to

There might be a problem at the moment...my photo from this morning isn’t showing wither...I’m sure they’ll be on it in the background sorting it out 😉

in reply to Mummycav

Ok thanks, I can’t get it to work on editing the post so maybe try later 🤗
