Used my annual leave day today to do another tentative tiny run of ca 30 min including warmup and cool down walk, trying out my precious metatarsals.

Felt great! I was a bit more out of breath than usual, but I also happened to run after having my morning green smoothie breakfast. I usually run (and like running more) on an empty stomach so feeling slightly out of breath as I did, I actually do associate this with having eaten not long before.

It felt I was going intentionally really slow, but Runkeeper told me I hit my old average. This the average that I had before having consolidated the 10k distance which in turn had made me a faster in my 5k distance.

I had chosen my old Aldi running shoes which I always felt were lower drop and wider toe box, but not as padded. But they felt right. (My new shoes haven’t arrived yet.)

So ok-ish. My foot felt ok, but it often starts heating up some time after having run, but here’s fingers crossed. Everything seems ok, and as I see it, I’m still healing whilst attending to my metabolism and fitness by these quick runs. So I’m not pushing it too much, and still plan to keep my runs short and slow and easy…. or rather even slower and even easier! 🤣

But it was nice to be out there again!

Short other updates from coming off the IC:

My Conqueror App also progressed me nicely in the north of Scotland, where I seem to be running through sunny hilly paths! I love that!

I still have to put in my last runs to my End2End RunLeJog journey, but I have crossed into Scotland a few runs ago! But I will need to ask the lovely people at End2End to transfer me over to another cohort. I’m just too slow And have also now lost time to be able to run the whole UK in the average time that others do. But that’s ok.

Also, this was the first outing of my new IPhone, as my old one stopped working when I had stopped running. Obviously it was sulking, and even a trip to the phone doctor didn’t resurrect it. Thanks to living in the cloud, my old phone’s soul made a trip into my new phone and everything was fine again.

I am actually in utter awe of all those naked runners, as I desperately (but joyfully) cling to all sorts of apps to keep me motivated.

That's great, sounds like the IC hasn't had that much of a detrimental effect on your fitness 😃 I'm with you on the app front, I need something in my ear, whether it's a guided run, a podcast or music. The only times I've had to run without it's been due to faulty tech! Whatever works 👍

I'm with Beatles - another tech lover here. That sounded like a good run. Interesting that you were using your lower drop shoes and had no pain. 🤞 that you may have found a solution?

Would be great if it was that easy. We’ll see. But I have feeling the discomfort was rather to do with some inflammation of nerves, and it rather doesn’t appear immediately on or after the run. But feel ok now, but can feel the area that still feels tender, so … maybe?

And, tech-runners unite!

Ah brilliant CBDB! Great pics. I love the idea of an old phone’s soul entering the new one thanks to the Cloud. Try explaining that to someone who lived a few hundred years ago. I need to check out this Conqueror app, it sounds like fun. Hope the foot feels ok 😊😊😊.

It’s sniffling a bit quietly at the end of my foot (metaphorical speaking). So it feels a bit sensitive again but I put this down to all that oxygenated blood flowing into that area and increasing the repair and healing! 😃🤞But now it’ll be another 3-4 days before I try running again, and I think this will work to balance recuperation and fitness recovery!

Conqueror virtual runs are great, I have to admit. They’re app is just so slick. And their medals are awesome! Really artistic! It’s a New Zealand company, I believe.

That sounds great cbdb, you must be pleased with that! I've just got a new pair of walking shoes with hardly any drop, and I'm having to get used to them because my hips are in a completely different alignment when I walk in them, and I have to use a fuller action in my feet. It's got to be better for me in the long run, using a more natural gait. Hope your new shoes work for you!

I'm glad you had a good, pain free run today. You are very wise to take it gently and learn to enjoy the little runs - do make sure that you give your body time to heal.

Will do thank you. Yes, I’ll wait 3 or 4 days until the next run. That way if I did in the end overdo it, there should be plenty of time got recovery. But it just feels a tad tender, but nothing serious.

It sounds like everything went well for you today 🤞. That is great news. Hopefully you can gradually build up and put that injury behind you. Well done.

Yes. And I’m counting on my body coming back stronger! I should be able to expect that, right? 🤣🤣

Despite not doing anything with it, I need my Garmin too. It almost feels like, if it was not recorded, the run did not happen 😂.

Sounds like a good run. Do watch out with the switching of shoes though. Less padding than you are used to, can cause injury too.

Thank you yes. Plan is to go back in distance substantially and built up very slowly again whilst switching shoes to also very slowly get used to different ones. 👍🏽🦶🤞
