So you ran 5K by the river today, that was a good run, enjoy your rest day tomorrow and back to running on Tuesday. 😊 🏃🏾

It’s just been fun going to different places, i love the river run but it’s only just over 3k so have to go further

It was so hot out there today too. I felt the heat in my run. Well done though. A rest day will really help with recovery before you're back out there again!

What a lot of running. So jealous at the thought of you going swimming. Enjoy your rest day. Happy running 🤗

Thank you, the water is almost perfect but i can’t get Willow on the beach unless the sun shines, he’s a Londoner at heart whereas me, I’ll drop me shorts whatever the weather and have a quick splash in the waves lol

You are tempting me to head for a run and swim at a local beach - I’ll have to wait for summer to return first though🤣

Be nice to have a spell of warm weather, it’s been dull here today with rain which was a blessing on the run little spots of cool water on my face as i grumbled to myself because i ran in a short sleeved tee shirt and cotton trousers that i’d worn to work but was only really expecting a walk

That’s what i got from being too lazy to change, we go to work, change, go out at work, change, go back change again, i thought i’d come home in work clothes and put in wash when i got home but was too lazy to change again

Grannyhugs profile image
GrannyhugsGraduate10 in reply toSueAppleRun

🤣 too many changes in a day but great running

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toGrannyhugs

yes but i’ve cracked the shoes, wide leg cotton trousers for work baggy shorts for to and from work so i can keep my trainers on all day without faffing with the laces, each day at work we start with a set of clean clothes which go straight in the washing machine when we get home all in the name of infection prevention we walk through disinfection going in and out too so it’s old trainers as one day they may just fall apart

Sounds Lovely.

The Adur?

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toMaddee_6333

Yes of course😀 at least it’s flat, Buckingham park uphill is fine but 3 times running back down again is more than my legs are used to

It is why I run there 😍

SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toMaddee_6333

Good idea

Maddee_6333 profile image
Maddee_6333Graduate10 in reply toSueAppleRun

Bonus points for it being pretty too.

Though it can get really busy on a nice day at the weekend.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toMaddee_6333

We start at Adur rec in shoreham run along one side to the foot bridge and back the other side, it is pretty busy in places and have to stand aside for people but it’s different every time with the tides we’ve yet to be there at high tide, our run is only just over 3k which is enough for Willow then I went round the rev and along the road to get 5k it wasn’t supposed to be a run though so i’m happy with our slow times

The path by the airport? I thought that was closed for repairs now.

I can’t run that one anymore now there’s no barrier to the airport.

If you don’t mind something more ‘trail’ if you start at Ricardos and run up the river you can get a 3k and 5k by one of you running right beside the river both ways, and the other one running straight back beside the field.

It’s been a while, but I can easily double check tomorrow, if you’d like?

The path by the airport is closed but the road by the airport is still open, it tickles me that we start on the coast road and see the top road before we turn back,

We always used to drive towards Steyning and walk along the river there but it’s been busier this year

Maddee_6333 profile image
Maddee_6333Graduate10 in reply toSueAppleRun

Ah 👍. Yes it is. I sometimes cheekily nip through the airport to fetch the grandsprockets from Shoreham Beach.

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toMaddee_6333

Have done that many rimes in the past

Maddee_6333 profile image
Maddee_6333Graduate10 in reply toSueAppleRun

They have a sign up now that says to access to A27 / A259 but if I’ve walked the dogs at the river on the ways to pick up the grandsprockets, I’m not using either.

This conversation makes me feel quite nostalgic. Our children were born in Shoreham, when the maternity unit was in the hospital there. Has taken me over 30 years to take up running, so I never ran along the Adur, just walked there sometimes.

It’s a small world isn’t it

Maddee_6333 profile image
Maddee_6333Graduate10 in reply toRunawaytrainer

My 3 youngest children were born at Shoreham in that hospital, it’s a new housing estate now.

SueAppleRun profile image

Crikey it is a small world

Runawaytrainer profile image
Runawaytrainer in reply toMaddee_6333

I didn't know that. They sold the whole site to developers?

Maddee_6333 profile image
Maddee_6333Graduate10 in reply toRunawaytrainer

They sold the old part, including the laundry etc and kept the ‘new’bit.

I drive past it all the time and hardly notice now, I’m ashamed to say.

Runawaytrainer profile image
Runawaytrainer in reply toMaddee_6333

Does it still function as a hospital? Where did all the departments go? Worthing?

Maddee_6333 profile image
Maddee_6333Graduate10 in reply toRunawaytrainer

Pretty sure some of it must do. westernsussexhospitals.nhs....

I’m strictly speaking a Brighton and Hove resident, so only ever used it for the maternity wards.

They still have eye clinic and blood tests other than that I’m not sure what’s left
