Didn't feel entirely up to running this morning - ironically haven't had a holiday since Feb half term as my school 'closed' (at least in the eyes of the public) on 20th March and I've either been planning and providing Key Worker Provision, managing home learning, sorting free school meals and effectively redesigning school everytime the government did then didn't then did want children back in school π - I've reached the summer holiday feeling a bit ragged around the edges and an outdoor cocktail and pizza fest yesterday evening made for a sluggish start this morning.
However, despite this I did run (admittedly only a steady 5k) and so begins my summer streak planned in the hope of finding some mental equilibrium and physical recalibration - so as to repair myself a bit before the September onslaught.
Also decided that additions are needed to the running wardrobe so have splashed out online for new capris, vests and runderwear...
Hoping to spend a bit more time with you wonderful folk on here again too!
So I'm all set for summer πππ€ΈββοΈππΌββοΈ
Happy running everyone.

Well done on all your effort teaching during lockdown- as a retired teacher I appreciate the work you put in. Great that you have sparkly new gear to encourage you out the door. Have a fabulous summer of happy running π€
Happy Holidays π! It's been the weirdest, craziest term ever hasn't it? I cannot imagine how full on its been for you and only hope you didn't have to teach remotely either (that nearly sent me over the edge!). It sounds like you've got off to a good start with a 5k and some retail therapy. I hope you have lots of lovely runs this summer and can rebalance in every sense of the word. π
Aargh Zoom!! Bringer of lower back pain and tight glutes! The only remedy is to run it all off. πββοΈ I'm being very selfish and focusing on my well being and health this summer. Hope you can too.
Thanks Ju. It's been a tough old time for everyone so feel very grateful that at least I get some chance to recuperate a bit. Really looking forward to just having some running me time.
Hello DebJogsOn and very happy holidays to you. Not quite sure whether you have run a little during the strange we have all had since March. I'm aware how varied folks' experience of Covid 19 has been depending on their situations. You have made it through the term. Well done to you. If you started your holiday with 5k, I imagine you have kept your running ticking over during the term. Here's to a holiday that reaches and even surpasses your expectations.
Can't remember whether I have mentioned that I teach maths. I stopped teaching in school an amazing 7 years ago! I have tutored at home for years and years, just so enjoy teaching. Swapped to Skype and Zoom on March 13th, will be teaching 6 hours tomorrow and then 4Β½ weeks off. The hour on line takes an hour, but oh the time I have spent WhatsApping H/W and the rest, just too, too long. Always looking for ways to refine what I do, but it has been taking so very much longer than having pupils to our house. My husband is in the extremely clinically vulnerable category, so no pupils here for the foreseeable future.
Have a lovely rest, happy injury free running too. πππ Holidays have arrived! ππββοΈπΈ
Hello again and thank you - I did keep running. In fact ran every day in the first stages of lockdown (sometimes just round and round the school field) as it really helped me deal with the angst of it all. However had a tiny calf strain which took me down for a couple of weeks and then the last few weeks have been so stressful I was just exhausted by the time I eventually got to leave work.
So I definitely plan to enjoy my summer π - even hoping to get to Cornwall for some of it (despite the fact I will be in school for some of it no doubt).
Remote teaching is so time consumming. Fortunately we weren't tackling home learning like that in my primary. But we were regularly posting videos, collecting work via virtual platform, having regular meetings etc. It all takes sooo much longer than normal.
It was a relief to have more children in school by the end - though I think everyone back in September is going to be really challenging π³.
Hope you and your family are staying safe and well xx
I wonder how your Summer running streak is progressing.
I stopped running for a whole two months to try and catch up with a major back log of tasks in the garden, have still not caught up, but progress has been made. I re-started my running at C25k week 4 and have now completed week 6 (25 minutes). π My first go at C25k was by a river and so flat, but to avoid people I'm choosing a hilly route. About 50m elevation gain does mean that I am not finding the steep parts easy, but really pleased to have re-started. I treat running as an investment in my health and so appreciate the increase in stamina that it gives.
I trust that your holiday has begun well. ππββοΈ
Happy, well earned holidays! My husband is a teacher too so I know exactly what you mean. He was hosting full staff meetings in the kitchen while I was in the back bedroom having research meetings - all on Microsoft Teams for us!!! I'm on leave too and its marvellous! Enjoy the head space andcdown time!!
