Second run of the week today - so I thought I'd do 5k and was another corker! I ran out and back along the cycle track. Lots of wild flowers were in bloom, the sun was shining but there was a cool breeze - perfect running weather again.
The happy pace returned and without feeling like I was working any harder I ended up with a faster time - although I did speed up for the final 2 minutes when I realised I might get a PB! So that was 40:41 today and I am very pleased with that. These long runs must be paying off!!!

You are doing really well. Still haven't found my happy pace. Not consistent but did try lengthening my stride as you did last weekend. Tech fail this morning so no splits to check🥴
I think it takes a while to get that happy zone. I'm trying to run shorter strides sometimes a little quicker to keep my cadence up a bit. Ultimately I don't want it to feel unnatural though so go with what feels comfy for you.
I don't find it every run - the last one was another stinker! But you'll find it eventually - or maybe it will find you? I think it happened because I just relaxed into a long run and decided to forget about pace and distance.
Thanks! I feel that getting under 40 mins is a good target - might take a while but I think the longer runs are definitely doing something. I feel like something has clicked as well - and not in an ominous way 😂😂
Wonderful Fionamags, sounds a lovely run, there go those happy running legs, flowers looking beautiful. I definitely think those runs are all in the bag somewhere and will all pay out 😃🤗
yes I think so. I'm just going to carry on gradually extending one run per week in a similar way to Juju's plan. So it will take me a while.... but I'm not in any hurry.
Fabulous Fionamags! "A cheeky little 5k" indeed - go you with a PB!! ⭐️
It looks like a glorious running route with flowers all along the way. No wonder it was a corker today - sunshine, flowers, happy pace and a 5k to boot 😃! What's not to love 😊.🌷DD
