Morning lovely runners,

Did my 4K on Tuesday, and woke up full of beans today, ready for my 5K. I decided to try and make it a speedier one today, and succeeded! Have been much slower on my longer runs, so wanted to up my game on the shorter runs. It was fun, and thankfully cool this morning. I know it is going to hot up again today, so I am glad I got it out of the way nice and early - phew.

Also ran in new bamboo shorty shorts and they were soooo comfy!

Hope you all have lovely runs if you are out today!

Love

😊 Thank you so much, Rip! I think the key for me in this warmer weather is to stock my body up with lots of water the day before, a bit like a camel. 🐪 x

Wow, well done you Sadie.....great run and pace! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m not likely to improve much pace wise....a age thing me thinks 🤔

Keep up the good work, you’re doing brilliantly 🤗

Thanks Ted! I getting all my speediness in now, as for some bizarre reason, I am not getting any younger. 😂 xxx

😘 Thanks dearest MC! I swear the sports massage really sorted my legs out - that and my lovely new Clouds. 👟👟👟 I won’t lie and say it was easy, but it felt good to push a little and I seemed to have it in me! Next run 8k, and I am going to make like a snail for that one! xxx

Well done Sadie-runs , you are honestly leaving me for dust :P That's a fantastic time, and very well deserved. You're doing brilliantly, not that I ever doubted you. Can't wait to be back running so I can join you. Have a lovely day x

Not leaving you, buddy, just clearing a path for you! But thank you, so much. I cannot wait for you to be back at it again too. But when those legs of yours are ready and not a minute before! Take care. 😘 x

I know you're not, thank you! You do need to change your name to Sadie-sprints now, you know?

Oh wow! What a time! Am impressed and inspired! And I love your bamboo short shorts - my capris and my high-vis long sleeve top are from there and the quality seems fab. Blazing bare-legged towards 10K!

Thanks icklegui! And just think, this time last year I could not run for even a minute...now I feel like I am literally flying!

I loves Bamboo! I saw the shorts recommended on runners world.com They are very short but it feels very freeing! x

Whoohoo! Speedy, speedy!!!

😊 But seriously, got to go slowy slowy for my next run, 8k. Hard, I think I am turning into a speed freak! x

It is fun to push it sometimes but definitely slow and steady is the order for the long runs. I've been enjoying some of the speed intervals I've been doing with my programme I've been following but they do take a lot out of you and your legs. They require a bit of recovery afterwards.

I always take two days rest after my long runs now...poor wee leggies need it!

Cheers, Sallenson! It was early, so thankfully not so hot. Plus I’d hydrated like a good ‘un yesterday. x

Wow! speedy you are. Bamboo shorts sound great, do they do them for chaps too?

Sadie-runs profile image
Sadie-runsGraduate10 in reply to pinkaardvark

Getting there! (I hope I don’t suffer for it tomorrow..mind you, legs feel great now so maybe I’ll be okay). The ones they do for chaps are compression shorts. I cannot help but feel it might not be healthy to compress that area though?! They’re a bit longer than the ladie version, too.

That's a really great time Sadie, you must need a drogue parachute to slow you down at the end! 👍 😂 😂 I'm very envious, think my best ever 5k to date was about 33 mins.

Sadie-runs profile image
Sadie-runsGraduate10 in reply to orangeguy

Thanks OG! Got to learn to slow down for me longer runs though, otherwise I will never make it! 33 mins is not a bad time at all, be proud! x

That some jet stream there, l say, a few seconds off my all time best which left me dazed, delirious, and disoriented for an hour, lol. Well done! And to think that top pros do it in just over 12 mins, eh? ;)

When you do the long one try and slow down by up to a minute per km, that will keep you going for longer than you think. And hydrate super well!

Sadie-runs profile image
Sadie-runsGraduate10 in reply to mrrun

I think the wind was behind me that day! I had a good nights sleep, and lots of water the day before - and my fancy new On Cloudflyers on, which I swear have speeded me up! (They are very light.)

Will heed your words for my 8k run tomorrow, mrrun. Thanks!

12 mins?! Gulp!

mrrun profile image
mrrunGraduate10 in reply to Sadie-runs

Find Bekele 5K world record on YouTube and sit tight, that’s dizzy stuff. And do your 8K early tomorrow, bbc fella says it’s going to be 30c where we are. I’m doing 16K, another practice for my second HM. I’ve chosen perfect weather for that, haven’t l?

Sadie-runs profile image
Sadie-runsGraduate10 in reply to mrrun

Yikes. That was FAST. Gulp.

I am in Norfolk this weekend, so it’s a wee bit cooler (though not much) than London Town. I will be out by 6am too. Good luck with your run! You will be running twice my distance, which is inconceivable for me! Enjoy. 😎
