So close ....

So after finishing C25K just before lockdown, I wanted a new challenge, using Garmin Coach, I set myself a target of 5K in 30 mins. My PB was 35:15 so I knew this wasn’t going to be easy.

I’m now on week 12 of 14 - I have an imaginary race at the end to achieve my target.

But on my run tonight I was so close. I’m not disappointed though because I knocked 2 minutes and 10 seconds of my previous PB that I set a week and a half ago. And I now feel that I can achieve that target in a few weeks time 😊

Only 7 seconds to get a 30 minutes 5K, it won't be long before you can get that, good luck.

That’s incredible, you’re getting so close and should be really proud at knocking so much off your PB in such a short period of time. You’ll be sub-30 before you know it 🥳

Wow, that is just brilliant! And you still have two weeks to go, I’m sure you will smash it.

What is Garmin coach like? I’ve never thought of using it but now your post has me considering it!

I really like it because it gives you different types of runs. There are different coaches to choose from and various goals you can set from time to actually completing 5k, 10K and half marathon.

The structure helps me - the coach I’m using uses a two weekly cycle. I know what’s coming but not necessarily how many sets I’ll have to do.

It’s good if you can run the same days every week, I had to change my days when I returned to work but it only made a bit of a difference.

You get videos and articles to read a certain points too.

Just have a play around and see what suits you. You do a benchmark run to start with and it uses that to work things out.

Good luck

Wow, that's brilliant and you've given me hope. I've set myself the same target on Garmin Coach and had a similar PB at the start. Only on Week 3 out of 11 so far, but I'm really enjoying it and already seeing a difference in fitness and speed. I like having the structure and variety to my runs - and without having to think about it! Good luck for your next 2 weeks....only 8 to go for me!

This is why I like it, the structure and the different types of run. I struggled for motivation and just thought why not give it a go and I’m so glad I did. Good luck!
