Week 7 of Ju-Ju’s Magic Plan. Slated for 9k today, but a lovely cool front came thru last night with 30F dip. Just had to go for it.

FIRST 10k EVER!!!!!

So cheerfully done at a 🐌 pace. Yes it really took me 1h21m. Started c25k on quitters day 2020, graduated mid March. 18 consolidation runs to build up enuf confidence to start the magic plan.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Thanks B34, I’m well and truly chuffed, cuz I didn’t really think I could do it. It appears perseverance wins over low confidence!

It’s the first time I really feel like a runner. Wasn’t sure I’d keep going after c25k. This just feels lovely.

I know!!!! 5k seemed such a long way and 10k impossible. Incredible to think back to that very first run not realising you’d be bitten by the running bug.... and just keep going. You are most def a proper runner 😃

Well.... I’m thinking tandoori chicken and cocktails, my son said ‘no really mom, what’re you making for dinner’. They get frozen pizza, I and husband getting takeout tandoori then mixing up a pitcher on the deck.

Thank you. I had a good cry when I got home.

It matters. That’s why we’re emotional about it, it’s a brilliant achievement 👍🙂

Well done you, a fantastic achievement 👏 hopefully that low confidence is ebbing away and you're still revelling in your great achievement 😊

Yes! High achiever w low self-esteem. Been working on it and running has helped tremendously. The first thought after the run was ‘l can do anything’. Confidence beats bravado every day.

I meant to say I think your time was mighty fine too. It’s not about how fast it’s about how far you run which is just brilliant. 👏👍😀

Thank you Wimborne. We’re taught speed is most important, and it is for the competitors. We learn distance and just crossing the finish line is more important to the rest of us.

Well done that’s amazing what you’ve managed to do. I’ve done 6 consolidation runs now and they seem to be getting harder each time instead of easier which is a but worrying as I want to begin Ju-Ju’s but now I see you did 18 and I find that helpful 👍

I couldn’t run 30m the first run after c25k graduation. I was so frustrated. It took 18 to settle into 30m and eventually gain 5k to let my level of fitness catch up. Same is true with 10k. I pushed to achieve it but will have to back down a bit and put more miles on my legs at 8k/9k to work back up to a solid 10k. Be patient with yourself.

Have fun in consolidation. Try podcasts, new music, no music, new routes, running at different times, even different socks, running style etc. The beauty of consolidation is the goals are far more modest than the big progress pushes every week in these programs. It gives you room to explore all the aspects of your running and be much more ready body and mind.
