Magic plan

I finished C25K a month ago. I have been enjoying my three weekly runs but I felt that I needed something else to motivate me. I have just completed week one of Ju-Ju’s magi plan and I am feeling much more motivated. I have decided to follow the timed runs until I get to 60 minutes and then I will work towards the 10k. Gorgeous 35 minute run this morning to try and avoid the days heat. What a wonderful start to the day.

I am Suestudy. I have run a few 5k’s. What I am doing on my shorter runs is to try and increase my speed.

Don't hold back Sue - i got part way through the Magic Plan in order to hit 5k 😆. Unless you are going to do the distance version?

Well done and great start!! This plan is ace and I wish you well on it. Enjoy the journey 😊

Thanks GTFC. I really want to make sure running is part of my life. I feel so amazing when I have run. Wish I had started it years ago.

Gosh me too but we only have now, so well done for keeping going. 3x a week suit me and I don't put any pressure on myself. Sometimes it's hard and others it's ok. The main thing is to mix it up a bit and keep going.

I agree about the mixing up, because of the lock down I am finding it hard to find new places to run. Can’t wait for the day when I can do Park Run with my daughter.

The Magic Plan is great. I found it really helped after completing the C25K, especially if you need structure like me! I ran my first 10k a couple of weeks ago and ran my second yesterday. Enjoy!

Thanks RunUsagi. I too need structure. I am glad such a plan is available.

Hi MoliJ I’m on week 2 of the plan and also doing the times rather than distance. Did 15 mins last night and it felt great just to do a quick run especially after a longer one.

Hi Robo20, I had been doing 30 minute runs after graduating an also found the 15 minute run great. I think it’s something I will continue to do after finishing this plan. Mixing up your length of runs in the week definitely seems to be a good idea.

Very well done! You’re at the stage I’ve been heading towards for months now but never quite made it due to various twinges and strains. But from such posts as yours I’m learning to be happy with running any distance and any time. Just doing what you can manage. I’ve also learned that my setbacks have been caused by other workouts and not running as I had first thought. So I’ll resume shorter runs without an eye on progress or times. 🤞

A couple of 5k runs I did lead to me getting sore calf muscles. Reducing run times has definitely helped. We have proved we can run. We now just need to enjoy it.
