So from the title yes you guessed, I did it. I ran a Half Marathon.
Slept okay last night then got up put out my weetabix and had a coffee.
I new the first 8k of the route as I had ran it on my 10 mile run . It may be classed as a cycle path but boy its hilly.
I had my new belt with space for my phone and jelly babies and 2 small water bottles.
It rained the whole time and it was windy but I didn't care and being from Scotland I'm kind of used to it.
I had my watch set for half way so I new when to turn around to go back.
My legs got a bit tired near the end but I kept pushing on and then I was finished . I had the biggest smile on my cool down walk and probably looked a bit mad walking into my street smiling like a Cheshire cat.
As it was raining there wasn't many people out today a few dog walkers and cyclists.
A few photo stops along the way the cows and their calves and the tiniest snails I've ever seen where dotted along the path the entire route.
So I'm home now and I'm proud of myself and apart from my husband you all are the first to know I did it.
Today would have been the Monklands HM and was obviously cancelled but they were allowing you to do a virtual run and post them the proof of your run , so I did exactly that. Just need to wait for my medal in the post. πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ

Aww thank you Delly-dot. See this is why I love this forum . Everyone is so supportive ππ
Wowwwwww
Buddy, this is tremendous. What a milestone run and moment for you. I'm so pleased for you. Gosh, those last few miles seem like forever but you did it. Look how far you have come. So proud of you as all of us on here will be. Well done and what a brilliant part 3!!!ππ
Well done you and in the rain too!! I did my one last summer in one of the hottest days in August. I must have sweated about half a stone away. And like you didnβt stop grinning ( and boring everyone about it). I must have dropped it j to every conversation for days. β oh you are popping out for a paper? At least you wonβt have to run a half marathon to get it like I did the other day. Did I mention I ran a half marathon? Oh I did? anyway ..... πβ
Now take care of you so you donβt ache too much tomorrow. Lots of stretching π
π€£π€£π€£As soon as I got back like a drowned rat I shouted ' I did it'. Then I was on the family what's app and of course I loved telling my greatest supporters , all of you on here.
Plenty stretching when I got home then a shower and something to eat. Then went a short walk with the dog.
Congratulations Buddy34, thatβs an amazing achievement, and nice and cool to do it in too. Celebrate in style πββοΈππ»ππ»πΎπ₯ and coming
Claim your HM.badge on the marathon site if you havenβt already. π
Absolutely fantastic! What a way to bounce back after your falls ( no pun intendedπ₯΄). I'm so pleased for you. Such an inspiration!!! Enjoy the glowπ€―πππ
Congratulations Buddy! You are truly inspirational . Iβm running 10k ( it should have been this month but Covid cancelled it) in October so at present Iβm preparing for that. Yesterday I ran just over 7k in 1 hour 1 min 1 sec. so my aim is t o keep going and improve. So my dear you have given little old me hope.π€£
Massive congratulations. What a brilliant achievement. You have come so far ππΌ. Itβs only a few weeks since your 10 miles. π. Hope youβre having a well deserved rest and your legs are not too achy. Hope you donβt forget us on this part of the forum now youβre a half marathoner!
Aww thank you. I'm having a couple of days off from running and will go out on Wednesday. Legs were quite achy this morning but once up and did all the housework I feel quite good and will be out with the dog shortly and no I will still be posting and reading on here ππ
This is inspirational!! I wish I could find a better word than βCongratulationsβ for you. Iβve just been wondering if a half would be possible for me (Iβm still at 5K). Youβve sparked my imagination!
Thank you. At the beginning of c25k I didn't think I would be able to run for 30 minutes. Same again I didn't think I would run a 10k, 10 miles or an HM. I really need to stop doubting myself.
But you know what got me there was all the amazing supportive and encouraging people like yourself on the running forumsππ
I'm on week 3 of training for a half marathon . I'm doing it on the treadmill- my husband is in the at risk group and I felt I was seeing too many people when running outside .
I've got a place in the Great North Run ( yikes ) if it goes ahead . This was transferred from last year when I I had to miss it as I was being treated for bowel cancer ( double yikes )
I'm following a Red Bull training programme , this will end in July - a bit early but I figured that I would allow for injury . If things go ok , and we are allowed to play out again , I will hopefully just keep ticking over until 13th September .
Buddy, that is wonderful! What an incredible achievement. Also, sounds like you really enjoyed your run - lovely to read about the run and wow! HM! Wow! πππ π₯³π₯³π₯³ And because you have posted about your running journey throughout, you really are rather inspirational.
Thank you Leosmit and do you you I did really enjoy it even if it was on my own but it didn't make any difference because I always run solo anyway. Couldn't have done it without all you lovely people on here ππ
Good morning Buddy! Can you tell me what your new belt is like. Iβve been looking at the flipbelts and I rather like them especially the ones with the zips. They look more secure than a clippy type belt. What is yours like?π€π€x
