Hello my lovelies...I hope you are all keeping well and staying safe while still enjoying your running???
I just had to share this mornings run with you...
It started with a blink...then another....turned over my wrist to look at my watch and it said 4.55am...sigh...I don't want to go back to sleep, I think I want to go for a run...what?? at this time??? no chance, it's far too early, even the birds aren't singing yet!!! Ok...I'll wait here a bit...
that 'wait' lasted about 10 minutes and I was up...I crept downstairs where I knew my running gear was, in the utility room, did a quick change, puffed on my inhaler, put some washing in, hung some washing out, had a drink of water, grabbed my coat, arm sleeve and phone and headed out of the back door...…...
silence...
it was now 5.30am and I was OUTSIDE!!!! I have run early before, maybe 7am a few times but this was ridiculous o'clock!!! and I loved it!! The sun was so beautiful...the sky was so clear...it was a bit chilly, but not for long! My jacket was soon tied around my waist!!
I set off up the road and just let my legs decide which way I was going to go...and they headed off up hill, bonus I thought, uphill means running downhill too! although, I don't know which is worse!!
A little vibrating reminder on my wrist and I set off...a slight incline at first but then a short downhill...and then came the corner...a little bit more downhill to the main road or left up to OAP Hill...that hill is a killer and I've named it OAP hill because there's a nursing home right at the top and it's that that keeps me running... wait...I have no choice...my legs, they're heading up the hill....up...and up...and up...and up...I hate this hill but I've made it!!! I have a little breather at the top by walking a couple of seconds and then...my legs...they're off again!!! I have done this route many times now and there's another hill a bit further on, about half the length of OAP hill but still it's a hill...but my legs carried me up there..no problem and I just kept on running!! Eventually on the home stretch down the main road...about 2kms away from home...wait, where are we going now?? My legs, they're taking me into the park...through the gate...all the way down the back path, I'll turn the corner and head through the park towards home...wait...my legs...they're taking me out of the bottom gate in completely the opposite direction...it's ok, I'll run on here a bit, turn round and head towards home...but no...my legs were having none of it...there was no communication between my head and my legs, my legs were definitely doing their own thing this morning!! I carried on...and on...and on...then my watch decided to let me know that the battery was low...I had, by this time, eventually made contact with my legs and decided that I would run back towards the bottom gate of the park, head through the park and home....this time it was my watch that called the shots...just as I got through the gate it died...so I stopped...what a glorious run I had...I enjoyed every minute of it...my mind was elsewhere most of the time, my legs were definitely in charge but it's a good job my watch made the final decision otherwise I think I'd still be running!!!!
I just wanted to share this with you and if it inspires just one of you to get out there that will make me happy...just like this run did!!
I am due, well over due actually, some new running shoes but I have had so many good times in the ones I'm wearing that I don't want to get rid of them!!
Happy Friday everyone...stay safe and enjoy the sunny weekend xx

Thank you Bluebirdrunner ...it doesn’t happen often enough but when it does it feels amazing doesn’t it?? And yes, it was the best start to the day x 😊
Happy Friday to you too ~ it was beautiful running weather down south & I totally understand getting up early... I love Early as long as there is sunshine... Everything is quiet except for the birds... Today was first 'feel happy' run since IC... Still pretty puffed out, (in spite of inhaler) but lovely run... Have a great weekend! xxx
Sounds just lovely, it's brilliant when a run feels that good, lol that is not how mine went at all!
I struggled to get up and moving, if I'd have listened to my head I don't think I'd have gotten out of the door at all so I ignored it and went anyway...then counted down the kms from 5 until I could stop and be lazy again!
Serious question...4:45am and you didn't want to go back to sleep! No judgement but had you wet the bed?! 😂😉
Thankyou Run46 ...wet the bed!! 🤣🤣🤣 you’d have thought so at that time wouldn’t you? I just opened my eyes at ridiculous o’clock and they wouldn’t shut again! I hope you’ve had a better run since this one?
What a brilliant post Mummycav and I loved that your legs made the decisions and then the watch . It may have been early but look at what a beautiful run you had . Have a nice weekend 😊😊🏃♀️🏃♀️
Thankyou Buddy34 ...I had a lovely weekend although they’re not any different to the weekdays at the moment are they? I’m looking forward to having another run like this one
Yes Thankyou Oldfloss , we're all fine...drowning in home schooling but also making the most of being together....I hope you are too? I know you will be missing you family but hope that you’ve seen them to some degree? I’m loving your curly hair...you’ll have a swishy ponytail before we know it!!
Daddycav has said that because I’ve looked after him and the children so well through this lockdown that he’s going to treat me to some new running shoes...how nice is that? I’m so excited xxx
That is brilliant... yes, teaching is harder than many folk realise.. and in these circumstances too..how is W's knee now?
How lovely to have a wonderful treat look forwards to... Mr OF has just, this moment, said he will buy me anything I would like as a treat too!!! How odd!
I an liking my hair too.. although after I get back from a run I look slightly deranged
Thankyou for asking Floss, W’s knee is ok, still has moments where it feels tender but we keep going for short walks to keep it moving...oh and there’s MummyCavs p.e lessons!
Getting them motivated to do school work in their home environment with all its distractions and temptations has had its moments but, like I said, we don’t want to fall out with them so we try and make it a bit more interesting by throwing other things in...they’re researching eye and hair colour through the family in relation to a genes project we’ve set them at the moment!
As for you looking deranged, I think the word you’re looking for is runderful xxx
Sounds absolutely perfect Mummycav!! What a great way to start the day!! Peace, quiet, nature & movement!! Yep...I’m drooling 🤤!! Well done you!! 😂❤️❤️❤️
Thankyou Fabulous450 ...I hope you had a good weekend? This is the first chance I’ve had to get back and reply...I’m drowning home schooling! Early morning running is my favourite xx
Lol...it’s like walking through treacle trying to get them to do it so I’m not falling out with them over it...and we’ve done nice things too. We have a birds nest in the garden from last year so we got them to measure it and find out what bird it might’ve been...they loved doing that! X
Perfect way to have your time, ready to gear up for that home schooling then😯!! Enjoy your runs. One day we will be saying ‘remember when’!...and you can always claim credit and kudos for those great achievements to come!! 😉 My kids would be like, ‘oh here she goes’!....😂❤️
What an amazing run at silly o'clock. The whole world to yourself. It sounds like a beautiful route. I understand about changing trusty shoes but you know that your next pair will take you on a whole new set of wonderful runs. They are just sitting there waiting to be let free. Happy running 🤗
Thanks Grannyhugs ...and what a lovely thought? There are some shoes, sat somewhere, waiting to be set free! Haha...I can’t wait now...I’m ordering them today! 😉😊
Well I thought I was early at 6.30! 😁 . . . early morning runs are the best I always think, I maybe antisocial but I love it when nobody else is about 😂😂
Sounds like you had one of "those " runs, I bet you were buzzing all day. I'm an evening runner but I think as we head into summer I might have to find a way to drag my body out of bed super early when it might be a little cooler...
Thanks Mum22boys ...i was pretty pleased with myself! When we’re on holiday (not this year sadly) in France I get up really early and run...and in the Dordogne it’s quiet all the time so I see deer and all sorts of animals ...and yes, it’s much cooler...it really sets you up for the day 😉
That is do fantastic! Great run. Bet that set you up for the day ahead!! Could your legs have a word with my legs so they can be in charge instead of my head that keeps saying enough running walk now! Lost all motivation at the moment.
Oooh sounds lovely!! I did a lot of 5.00am runs last summer as I cannot deal with the heat. And it felt so good to be back home, all my washing and housework done and lying under my gazebo by about 7.00am. Didn’t feel guilty a bit!!!
And there are so few others around that you can just run and enjoy it. I used to see lots of bunnies last year. Only seen one briefly this year as so many other people about
Haha...yes, I’d got all sorts done by 9! I’m hoping to do it again...maybe once a week, get up before the birds and let my legs just do their thing! I saw a few squirrels and cats that had probably been up to no good!
I enjoyed reading your joyful post 😃 and am looking forward to the day my legs take me on a run like that! I do occasionally wake early on a run morning but manage to resist the early ‘before the birds’ run by rolling over and falling back to sleep 😴.... Who knows though, your lovely post has made me tempted to try it..... 😉.
That’s exactly it...rolling over and having another 5 minutes...then another...then another...after all what’s there to get up for so early at the moment apart from running? I often wake up and think “right, run time” and off I go....just not usually so early!
I hope you’ve managed one? If not...do it soon, you’ll love it! 💕
I loved reading this. It was like a whimsical tale. This kind of run and feeling is so hard to explain to people who don't enjoy running. Absolutely brilliant!!
Haha... I’m glad you enjoyed it! I know that when I come on here, everyone will just get where I’m coming from! I definitely wouldn't be so enthusiastic telling a ‘non-runner’ my tale! Thankyou Hidden ...wait till I take my new trainers for a spin...I’m ordering them today so I’ll be reporting their maiden voyage! Happy running 😉
