After a visit to the doctors, a course of antibiotics, a few days in bed and a week with no runs due to an injury I managed a slow very difficult 4K. Hoping that I will improve day by day. Been a rough month but at least I can see an end to it.

Blimey, that all sounds tough! The antibiotics will hang around for a while and you’ll probably feel rough for a few weeks. Take natural yogurt or pickled anything to get the good bacteria going and to soothe the tummy as antibiotics are really hard on the stomach.
Thank you I will try that. I have home made tomato chutney and piccalilli is that any good? This is what I love about this forum, people who have great advice.😁
My husband had 5 weeks on very high doses of antibiotics for a bad case of cellulitis. I got two types of probiotic tablets from Holland and Barrett, one time take alongside the antibiotics and one to take afterwards, on the advice of the assistant. I also started buying kefir, a fermented live yogurt. Yeo now produce one which is widely available in supermarkets now, both plain and unsweetened and flavoured but sweetened. We also have drinking kefir, made by a firm called Biotiful. He’d had a long period of chest infections before the cellulitis and was feeling very run down and clearly his immune system was weak. We both have felt better for taking the kefir and the probiotics- he is better than he has been for ages and has also lost a stone in weight. My gut feels a lot less turbulent than it used to, so we are sticking with it.
Glad that you are on the mend. This run could well be one of your most important too. Well done for going out to see how things were and how you felt. Slow progress is still progress. You have made a really good start. Build up again and this time in a few weeks you'll feel a whole lot better with your running.
Definitely going to have to build back up slowly as injury still niggles.
Yes, definitely but it's another step along the journey. Even if the distance is less that's ok. To be out running again must feel great.

Glad you are on the mend but take it easy, too much too soon can be very tempting, I speak from experience 😒
