Sorry everyone. Late to post this week. I’m just about to pop out for my virtual parkrun. I’ll reply to this later with my run report. Please post underneath with all of your virtual parkrun run reports. Gorgeous day.
Virtual parkrun: Sorry everyone. Late to post... - Bridge to 10K
Virtual parkrun
See you in a bit Damien! Parkrun Quiz this week was awful (7/15), let’s hope the run goes better!
Mine’s done and dusted Damien. Absolutely zero leg power today (I’m blaming my antihistamines, but who knows?) but it was a gorgeous morning for a 5.5k bimble with no one in sight on the common at all! 👍😀 I really enjoyed it. 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
I even met Mr Cheeky on the way home on his bike, so stopped for a tiny chat before he headed back to start the Full English going. Yep, I’ll take that! 😋😋
Look forward to reading everyone’s reports. 😍
Fabulous450 did an inspiring imperfect run this morning so I decided to follow her lead. I decided on the spur of the moment having read your post that I would run my first ever virtual park run. Having never run a park run before this was a really imperfect park run. I believe Scottish park runs start at 10, I ran at 9:30. I ran till I got home so my course was 5.16km I'm still recovering from too many 10k runs so I didn't race. 5.16km 34.57min . I guess this means I could easily get a new PB on my next virtual parkrun. Thank you for hosting this again damienair and for allowing me to join in. Happy running everyone 🤗
9.30am is the start time for Scottish Parkruns, I ran my 8th virtual parkrun this morning, glad you enjoyed your run today.
Well done. You were in very good company this morning running with the Scots and the Irish. Great time and looking forward to hearing all about your PB next week. No pressure.😀
Damien
Another late start for me with a mild VEDay hangover (after our stay at home street party yesterday). Late start meant it was a tad hot, but another lovely day to be out. I decided to risk the route through our local park today - it’s always quite busy but beautiful to visit especially in a sunny day. As a bonus, I saw one of the elderly folk I am keeping an eye on, and stopped by the lake to chat to him for a few minutes. Managed to wish happy Parkrun Day to a couple of parkrunners too. Not a stunning time, but steady today- 33.06.
My virtual parkrun took place on the Isle of Skye this morning, as that is where we were supposed to be, so I imagined looking at the sea while I ran. A glorious morning but far too warm for my 1k speed challenge, so a 31.24 parkrun time and a 5.31 fastest 1k. Now to enjoy the sunshine 🌞
Are you doing your virtual Cape Wrath challenge on Monday?
Yes I am 😃Are you? Not sure I can replicate the terrain and I’m a long way from the sea, but at least it may be a little warmer down here!
11 deg this morning but very damp - felt hot and humid on run. Yes I think I'll do what will hopefully be my last 10k run here although our Hope's of moving are diminishing as each day passes.🤗
Well done Sandie. What weekend it would have been to get away to the Isle of Skye. Of course if we were not in lock down it would be raining. It is gorgeous here. I’m sitting out in my Garden relaxing. I have the paddling pool inflated and I’m filling it with water now. I’m going to pretend I’m on holidays for the day.😀

Hi Damien, I hope you enjoy your virtual 5K parkrun this morning, I am just back from my 8th, saw another 7 runners on my route, I ran a little slower today wearing my Vitality Parkrun T shirt, my time was 34.05
Phew, I thought it had been cancelled
The usual Goyt Valley non-parkrun today after a 1km warm up down the hill.
The first kilometre or so was very busy, so I was expecting it to be really bad on the trail but in fact it was fairly quiet. I have noticed that is the case after a busy Saturday the week before.
Anyway, I was expecting to be reporting a nice run, nothing remarkable apart from being hot. This week we remembered to stash a water bottle behind the grit bin near the Finish, so that was welcome before our trudge up the hill.
But wait! I do have something interesting to report.
At the top of the hill is a very nice garden which has had a number of "picnicking" stone animals on the lawn during the lockdown. It was even featured in a our community Facebook group yesterday because of their VE Day decorations.
Just as we were passing, the sound of Glenn Miller welcomed us and we stopped to chat to the lady in her garden.
A couple passing on their way down the hill overheard us mention parkrun and said they were missing it as well.
Continuing on, we stepped to one side to allow a running couple to pass us. He said "she's nearly done, first time out". "How far?" "5K"
We cheered when they stopped then caught them up and chatted about ......?
Yes, you guessed it, parkrun. They hadn't heard of it but intended to Google it and we look forward to meeting them again when parkrun resumes, unless we see them in the meantime.
She'll be fine, her time was about 36 minutes.
Amazing. That sounds lovely, Glen Miller in the background, you just needed a Spitfire to fly over and do a Victory roll. And you even managed to introduce 2 new parkrunners to the community. Great result. Sorry I was late this morning. I slept in and then had a sneaky game of Call of Duty on the PS4 before my 2 boys kicked me off. Don’t worry a Virtual parkrun can never be cancelled.
Damien
Busy, busy, busy out there today. We had intended to go out before the quiz but Katnap was still fast asleep when I got up to make the rolls for lunch so we ran at our usual time of just after 10am. It was already baking hot and there was almost the normal amount of traffic about, both human and vehicular.
My legs were quite stiff to begin with as I’ve been doing Run Every Day in May but they have been worse and are definitely easing off. I hoped this would be a better planned run than the last few as I still had the last speed 1k to fit in.
We started off quite steady and I speeded up down a known Strava segment that I wanted to beat then we slowed down a bit again. Huffed and puffed up the hill and eased down as we made our way towards the speed section. Definitely planned this better as it came in at 5.02 which is my best for this time around. We eased off then and had a pleasant final 1km to finish it off.
My aim as always is to go sub 30 and this one was 29:11 with Strava telling me I’d pb’d that segment and a fastest 1km, so very pleased with that 💪😊
Have a lovely day everyone, it’s gorgeous out there and I’m planning to make the most of it in the garden whilst it still is x
Fantastic running. I’m sitting out in my back garden reading all the run reports. You did great running. It was warm this morning. I just ran steady, I would not have been able to chase down Strava segments. Enjoy the Garden.
Damien
Thanks Damien. I was supposed to be doing some gardening but I’m currently giving the cat some fuss on the bench. Not much impetus to tidy it up without new plants and compost. Fingers crossed the garden centres open soon 🤞
I think the Strava segments have replaced my parkrun nemesis’s (nemesii?) as something to chase 🤣
OGR reporting in on a non-Parkrun-run! I went in a different direction this morning so my 1k markers were a bit off and it was a bit wiggly as I tried to find the only slopes on our seafront to run up and down! As my 5k ended up rather a long way from where I’d intended I just carried on for a bit and ended up doing 6k instead, sorry about that! But what a glorious morning for a joffle at the seaside! Have a good weekend folks! Oh, and I managed 8 on the Parkrun quiz! Nearly all guesses, but as I do it on my own I was rather pleased with that!!
Well done OGR, I ran a slightly different 5K route today too. It left me just outside the town with under 1K to go. I was pooped after the 5K, so well done for running the extra kilometre. I also walked home the extra 1.5 k. Amazing day.
Damien
I had the most beautiful morning. I got up early and had a small breakfast. I left my home at 9:25 and ran my 5K Virtual parkrun. It was a gorgeous morning, warm and blue sky. My route was pretty quite and i had a lovely comfortable run finishing just outside the town. I then walked into the town and met up with 2 parkrun buddies from our little parkrun tourist group. Ida, Petula and I got a take away coffee and we went to a quiet little car park behind a church where we sat on the grass, socially distanced, had a chat and laughed for an hour. It almost felt normal. It was really nice to catch up with a couple of friends and sit out in beautiful warm weather for a while. It is great for morale and I’m already looking forward to meeting up with them after our run next Saturday. Next week will be my Birthday and it will be a nice way to celebrate.
parkrun was founded originally as a way of friends who ran getting together and enjoying a coffee afterwards. It really lifted my spirit, just as it was originally designed to do.
Finish time was 28:20.
I stopped on my way home at a bakery and picked up some treats for Nicola and the Kids. Happy parkrun day everyone.
Damien
that sounds great, I felt in a real parkrun mood after our chat in the park, so can imagine it was even better you, meeting your buddies.
You have reminded me , as we walked down our drive, a neighbour handed us a bag of scones. They will do nicely for afternoon tea. We were already heading for our normal non-parkrun breafastof bacon, egg and mushroom
Wow what a lovely “normal” park run morning you’ve had. Oh how I wish for catching up with family and friends. It’s bliss chatting to neighbours on our lane. 🤗
Hi Damien
Gorgeous weather in Southsea too this morning, didn’t know I was going for a run until Dexy told me I was, and she was supervising from her bike 🙄
No aiming for a fast time this week, just as well as legs not interested at the start. Also the route was incredibly busy, even though the road is closed to traffic, so not looking promising. Luckily someone overtook me and provided me with a target for the first couple of k. After that it went well enough and a little push over the last 2k saw completion in 25’40”.
Cappuccino and poached eggs rounded the morning off nicely 😀. Stay safe everyone!
A 25:40 would do me nicely. Well done and great running as always. I still imagine Dexy cycling along beside you shouting wisdom and encouragement with a megaphone.
Damien
I’m not sure about the Wisdom damienair but so nice to be be out on such a lovely day today. So many people on the beach even at 10.00 . The police had their work cut out to move them all I’m sure. But they did seem to be set apart. Looking forward to actually running non parkrun with you one day.
I started a bit early but it was still warm in the north of Portsmouth - hence a little slower than last week (28.59). Not many other runners around this morning - perhaps it was the post-VE day parties!
I have been trying to do a longer run on a Saturday. Legs were sore after some strength and conditioning on Friday. So I did 5k just before 9am. Gorgeous morning. Struggled a bit in the uphill sections but the downhills were nice 👍🏼. Had to stop at traffic lights. Strava says moving time was 29.33. It’s a great idea to organise this - thank you 🙏🏼
