A friend has just started Couch to 5k and asked me about shoes.

My husband suggested sending her this

brooksrunning.com/en_gb/Sho...

I thought people on here might find it useful as it won't be possible to get gait analysis during the lockdown

Brooks are the wrong shape for my feet.

I don’t think you can beat trying a variety of brands and models with a proper fitting.

I agree, they look too narrow for me.

I love this RunaroundSue ...I’m looking for some new shoes at the moment and I have found some that I love on there!! I’ve got On cloud flyers at the moment but I fancy a change...this link is very useful in the current circumstances, thank you for sharing x

Thank you very much for sharing this.

I must have been very well advised in the running shop where I bought my running shoes.

Following a gait analysis, I was recommended some Brooks Adrenaline GTS’s , which I absolutely love.

The link you sent has recommended the exact same shoes, amongst a few others.

I did the test just for fun. It said I had a Neutral gait. But I do over pronate and have had a couple of different pairs of Brooks GTS. I would be going for Stability shoes.

Thinking of trying the Saucony Guide 13 next. But I’ll get advice from the running shop first. I know you can’t go into a shop but the independent running shop I buy from are trading online with free postage and are available for advice.

I tried the test, and decided that my right foot turns outwards - which could perhaps explain why I get niggles in my right knee. Recommended Ravenna shoes. Then as I was walking to the Post Office to collect a parcel I was looking down at my feet, and they were neutral. Hmm ...

I thought I should try this test. It told me that I need a neutral shoe - same as the salesman said, I have flattened arches-tick, I have flexible joints - thats better than I expected. And recommended shoes that look very similar my Adidas Ultraboost and cost about the same. However I wouldn't order online because I have a wide foot and most shoes I tried when I was a new runner felt too tight.

The moment I put my foot in my Ultraboost I knew they were right. I now have 3 pairs although the first ones are retired from running. I still use them for walking around the village.

I always buy last year's colour to save about £30 -40 - as recommended by the salesman. He was really good, when I went for my second pair another salesperson directed me to some similar ones which didn't look right to me but he happened to walk into the shop and said "no, you want those", pointing to the right ones. I was impressed that he remembered.

Unfortunately the shop has now closed but I am happy to buy the same shoes online.
