I haven’t posted on here for ages! I have been running 5k regularly again for the last few months after physio on my nagging thigh injury. Thank goodness for running in these strange times ... definitely feel better after than before 😀 hope everyone is safe and well x

Hey Bridget , I can’t believe it’s a year since you last posted! Its great that you are still running though. Did you continue doing parkrun too (before it closed that is)? Do post more often, we’ve missed you.

Aw thank you 😊 i can’t believe it’s a year either! I did a few more park runs then got injured and then the rains came and it was way too muddy so they were all cancelled. How have you been getting on? I’ll have to have a look and catch up 😃

Bridget007 profile image
Bridget007 in reply to Dexy5

Oh no I’ve just looked and seen you’re on the IC! I hope you’re on the mend soon!

Dexy5 profile image
Dexy5Graduate10 in reply to Bridget007

Yes, I’m on the IC, but repairing day by day. Lots of exercises to be done every day to get me back in running shoes, hopefully in three weeks time on walk/run slow start as instructed by my physio. I’m really lucky that I had a medical report saying what was wrong , as all consultations have been by phone and FaceTime.

Where would we be without tech at the moment?

It has to be said it was very wet and windy during the early part of the year - it tested our resolve to get out there. Now it’s lovely, I can’t run 😢. Remember the 🐌 🐌 🐌 Bridget and you’ll get back to where you were. See you at the other end.

It’s horrible when you want to run and can’t but it sounds like you will be out there running again soon. I’m definitely sticking to be a snail from now on as it was trying to go faster “because everyone else was” that caused my injury in the first place. The little plod plod plod one foot in front of the other is enough. I’m so glad you will soon be running again you will soon be whipping along the promenade again ... see you at the other end!

Running is our time to clear our minds of all the worry and keeps us fit at the same time, glad you are still running

Bridget007 profile image
Bridget007 in reply to SueAppleRun

It certainly does! Because when I’m running and my legs feel like jelly that is the only thing I’m thinking about 😁

Exactly, it seems your last post was about the time we started and we are so pleased we did

Hiya Bridget welcome back 😊

Bridget007 profile image
Bridget007 in reply to lexi6

Thank you 😊 how are you getting on? Weird running and social distancing... always seem to be running through long grass to get away from people!

lexi6 profile image
lexi6Graduate10 in reply to Bridget007

Not too bad thanks Bridget, my dodging of people entails having to run in to the road, as my runs are all done on pavements and so many people are out walking and cycling, so I did a run round my garden yesterday, a tad boring. Back to taking my chances on the mean streets tomorrow I think. Everyone is very friendly and being very kind its lovely. 😊

Oh wow, hi Bridget! 👋 👋 How wonderful to hear from you. 😀 I’m so glad to hear your thigh has recovered and you’re back running again. You’re so right, running is invaluable at the moment - it brings a bit of normality to an otherwise very abnormal world. 🌍

I’m still pootling along enjoying this beautiful weather after the hideously wet and windy winter we had. Glad that’s over! I’m able to run every other day, and try to do a 10k run once a week, but no further during lockdown. 🏃‍♀️

Stay safe and well, and keep on running. 👍

Bridget007 in reply to cheekychipmunks

I’ve replied to your message in the wrong place as normal! Nothing changes 😆😆😂😂 it’s down the bottom of the posts!

Bridget007 in reply to Bridget007

What I said was..... thank you 😊 and I’ve just been looking at your posts .... a half marathon! Wow 😮 well done! That is such a long way to run I’m really impressed... and in the rain too! You stay safe and well too 😀

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to Bridget007

Haha, I do that sometimes too - or I write a long post or reply and press cancel rather than send! 🤦‍♀️😅

Yes, I’ve run HM distance twice now. I was really looking forward to the actual Bath HM in March, whereas instead I plumped for the virtual version. Bath were good in that they allowed us to send in proof of our entry and distance run, and they’re sending us our t-shirts and medals! I’m still waiting for mine, but apparently they’re on their way! 🏅 😀

Keep running and posting! It was so lovely to hear from you again after all this time. 😘

Thank you 😊 are you still running? I see you were going for 12 and 13km from your last posts! Well done! I only ever got to 10k and I think I only did one 😂😂 hopefully I’ll get back there one day! I’ve missed you too and being on here everyone is so friendly and welcoming 😃😃 😃

Yes I am running three times a week. Because my husband has respiratory problems I so don't want to get the virus and pass it to him. Trying to find a time to run and a place to avoid people. Even at 6am there are a few runners, walkers and cyclists about. Going back to my off road runs at leastI don't have to play dodge the cyclists. I think that I shall try 5.30am tomorrow! I have discovered that I am quite keen on early mornings! Quite surprise myself! Somehow stopped the longer distances, just always have a lot to do. I am not sure that the government want us out for more than an hour anyway, hoping to go for 8km tomorrow. We'll see. I have only just returned to my off road hilly route, as it has been too wet and therefore muddy and slippery, and I am finding the steep parts very demanding. What time of the day are you running? Do you see many people about? I do hope that you and all your family are all alright in these very, very sad and strange times.

Bridget007 profile image
Bridget007 in reply to over61andstilltrying

Oh no it’s even more worrying for you with your husband. Yes you must avoid people at all costs I normally like to give people a much wider berth than two metres just to be safe 😊

I have the three children (well they’re 10, 12 and 13) so not overly young but younger than one would normally have at the ripe old age of 55 nearly 56 as I don’t know if I mentioned before but they are all adopted. Tried fostering and got three siblings aged 1, 2 and 3 at the time and they never went back!

I can run whenever I like when my partner is home but he is considered an essential worker as he does all the maintenance at sky television and they don’t want that crashing while everyone is at home! So when he is at work it’s tricky because I need to take the dog and the children out for a bit of fresh air even though they would be quite happy without any!

Home schooling is fun .... not 😂😂😂

I have seen so many people while I am out running whatever time of day I go and they don’t seem too keen to move even if there are four people taking up the whole width of the path! There were groups having a picnic, people sunbathing and last week a group of three older boys without crash helmets haring round the park on motorbikes ... the mind boggles! Do they not watch the news?

I might try a very early morning run surely there must be less people about although my legs don’t seem to wake up until about 10am.

I hope you find a nice quiet place to run and that you and your husband stay safe and well

over61andstilltrying profile image
over61andstilltryingGraduate10 in reply to Bridget007

Wow! Fostering three siblings and they never went back how wonderful! No I didn't know. I had better go to sleep now if I am going to try a 5.30am run. That will be my earliest yet this spring. Happy running to you in these troubling times. 🏃🏻‍♀️🌸

over61andstilltrying profile image
over61andstilltryingGraduate10 in reply to Bridget007

Even rising at 5.30am I could see that my intended route was heading for someone, so I did an about turn, but did run 40 minutes, I think. I used to turn around because of cows, but now it's because of people! 🐄🏃🏻‍♀️🌸

Bridget007 profile image
Bridget007 in reply to over61andstilltrying

🤣🤣🤣 even I would prefer to run into a cow these days! And that’s saying something 🐄 well done for getting up and out by 5.30 that’s dedication! I can’t believe there was someone else about at 5.30 in the morning! I had to do about 6 turns today but that was at about 10.30 ... some people will not give an inch round here you can see the look on their faces ... this is my path! so off I trot into the rough traipsing over tree roots and fallen branches from the winds last month or whenever they were ... everything seems so long ago now 😂😂😂

over61andstilltrying profile image
over61andstilltryingGraduate10 in reply to Bridget007

I managed 5km on my hilly route and just passed one dog walker on my return. Perhaps try 6km on Sunday morning. The path where I know I have no escape from others is like a terrace. So a steep bank to one side and a stone wall and large drop to the other, so no where to go! Can't believe that I have bee trying to shield my husband since 13th March and now a doctor won't give him the steroid that he feels he needs without visiting the surgery. Neither of us are at all happy about it, but has gone there now. 😔

Bridget007 profile image
Bridget007 in reply to over61andstilltrying

Oh no that’s ridiculous! I bet you weren’t at all happy about it! Hopefully there wasn’t anyone else in the waiting room when he got there. I hope he got on ok and got the steroids he needs. It’s such a horrible, weird, scary time 😕

over61andstilltrying profile image
over61andstilltryingGraduate10 in reply to Bridget007

The surgery waiting room was the car park! The doctor rang my husband's mobile phone to call him in for his turn. Such strange times.

It certainly is! And takes away some of the anxiety while you’re concentrating on putting one foot in front of the other! 😊

Lovely to hear from you Bridget and how fabulous that you are running. I’ve been quiet due to knee problems and slowly building back up my distance. Must get back on here to catch up with lovely folk like you. 🤗

Aw it’s so lovely to hear from you! I’m sorry to hear of your knee problems hopefully they are getting better now if you are building back up. I’ve never been to a physio before but they are so clever! Definitely get back on here you were doing amazingly well and will do again 😃😃 and it was lovely reading your posts 😊

in reply to Bridget007

I definitely will get back on here. I'm doing OK thanks. I seem to always have some niggle or other but nothing too serious. I'm doing Online Pilates by zoom and I can do some strange moves without my teacher to supervise me. xx

Bridget007 profile image
Bridget007 in reply to

I had just started Pilates before we went into lockdown so I’ve ordered a dvd to hopefully continue at home .... there’s not much more of my house I can clean so it’s all about the fitness 🤣🤣🤣😂😂 oh and the home schooling which features Joe Wickes PE which I have to pretend is easy 😬 hopefully see more of your posts soon xxx
