Damp underwear!

Morning fellow runners

I appreciate this dilemma is by no means a priority over the worries we are all having over coronavirus but I want to carry on running over coming months to keep myself as fit as possible and to keep low moods at bay. I’m currently wearing a London marathon jacket sent to me when I wasn’t successful in ballot last year. I wore it last week in a fairly light shower and got soaked right through to my undies!

So I wondered if anyone could recommend a waterproof jacket that’s suitable for running, so not too padded or bulky but is waterproof.

Much appreciated thank you

Thank you looks like they’ve got a few longer waterproof ones which may do the trick. Just need waterproof knickers now!!

I think many of us find it preferable to get wet from the rain.

I have never yet failed to regret wearing a jacket on a run.

Thank you for your reply I agree it’s lovely to run in the rain if only light shower but I did get caught in a heavy downfall the other day and the chaffing was rather nasty!

I’m not going to whinge thought just need to get a better jacket and maybe plastic knickers!!

At moment in our world there’s a lot more important things to be worrying about. Safe running all xx

Right down to knickers? Maybe I need to toughen up! I’ll check out some longer jackets which may help.

Yes right down to standing at the front door and stripping everything off so I dont leave a trail of water. I reckon as long as I dont catch a chill I'm fine. Warm up routine in house, straight into run then make sure I keep running all the way back to house, strip, shower , clothes, food stretch in place of cool down walk which chills you when wet. And I stay in Scottish highlands so do understand cold and wet 🤣🤣🤣 happy running 🤗

Wow I’m impressed yes us southerners are big woosies really when it comes to cold weather. I imagine it’s very cold in the highlands. I hope your neighbours aren’t about when you’re stripping at the door?!!

I wear a Ronhill running jacket, more to keep me warm in the wind, but it is rainproof too. But legs, face etc get wet . Peaked hats are good for specs wearers. Most messages here say how they love getting wet running in the rain but I tend to not go out in it. If it happens while I’m out then I carry on but head straight for the shower on return.

That’s lovely isn’t it the hot shower after. I’m going to stop whinging and toughen up! Thank you and safe running.

When it’s wet I wear less than when it’s dry! Good high wicking undies or commando, personally I’m in the latter group, but there are companies like runderwear and decathlon (opposite ends of the price scale) that make specialist undies for runners.

When it’s dry I am now wearing a long sleeved technical top and running trousers... both summer spec so they’re light and keep me cool, but if I do get a rain shower they soon dry again. When I know it’s raining before I go I revert to shorts and t-shirt.

Thank you for replying all tips much appreciated. I have discovered today that many runners run commando who knew?!

I am, shall I say, a senior lady and have noticed a very fit young man running past me most Sundays. I’m going to wear my glasses this Sunday purely for research purposes you understand🤓

The Decathlon running underwear is good value. Waterproof jackets are likely to end up just as wet on the inside from condensation. A good windproof will keep you warm.

Once you stop worrying about being wet you'll find that you, well... stop worrying about it. Doesn't bother you when you're swimming.

I tried a waterproof jacket once. The water ran off it and my legs and feet were drenched. I would prefer to be equally soaked 😂⛈⛈
