Waterproof advice please!

Hi everyone

Could anyone recommend a really good waterproof running jacket that isn’t hugely expensive?

I’ve looked at various reviews, just too many, thought it best to ask you!

The one I have now is just so hot to wear!!🥵

Thanks!

They’re all too hot to wear 🤣

I got a super lightweight OMM £££ and it’s still too warm for me even in sub zero.

It’s good for walking the dog though 😶🤣

Yep, everything I’ve tried is like a boil in a bag!!

My skin is waterproof. I like to wear just light fast drying clothing for if it stops... everything else gets me too sweaty and thus wet anyway.

I quite like running in the rain, maybe skins the way to go😂

I bought a nice light high viz running jacket in sports direct. Not fully water proof but is a nice wind proof jacket. It was not at all expensive, Karrimor .

I also bought a high viz heavier jacket for colder winter days. It is actually a cycling jacket And is fully waterproof which I got in Mountain Warehouse.

Don’t spend a lot of money on a running jacket. There are bargains out there. Keep an eye out for Aldi and Lidl specials in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the advice, actually have a couple of karrimor things which have been fine, shorts, ts, I’ll have a look at those, did see a good review for mountain warehouse waterproofs👍👍

With current temperatures I still use the cheapest option in the rain - my skin. Really appreciate the shower when I get home but have been known to have to strip off as I come in the door to avoid too many puddles😂 happy running 🤗

You’re the second person to say that, mmm maybe it’s the way to go!🌧💧😊

In my experience there isn’t a waterproof out there which doesn’t make me far too hot within minutes. I have a high viz showerproof jacket that I wear just for warming up and cooling down, and it goes round my waist whilst running. As the others have said, our waterproof skin is best! 💦 💦

Thanks for the advice, really glad to ask you all, almost made an expensive mistake!! I agree, as soon as I start running just want to shed things, 🏃‍♂️🌧

I have a ronhill showerproof jacket, it's not the cheapest but I got it for Christmas. I love running in the rain and can be found running home soaked with it still tied round my waist! However, I do it useful in the winter winds where I live on the coast.

I tried a jacket once and I felt as if I was cooking , never again. Getting soaked cools me down a bit🤣

T-shirt and shorts for me! Quite like the rain if it’s not too heavy.

May have to consider a long sleeve top if it gets too cold - not run over a winter yet so taking it as it comes 😂

I've also got a Ronhill showerproof, it's great for stopping me getting chilled during the warm-up, then it's usually tied round my waist. But I nearly bought a karrimor, they are brilliant value.

Hello.... with running, waterproof is tricky as you may get wet underneath from sweat. So in the cold I prefer layers and a lightweight rain jacket. I buy a lot second hand from Ebay much cheaper and the brands I like are Howies and Gore. I like the cycling ones as they cover your bum which keeps it warm in the cold weather.

Thanks for the advice ju-ju, I shall look at those makes, I’m realising you all prefer being light weight and cool, I’m kitted out on layers so shall get a light weight waterproof😊

I've been looking at shower proof outer layer too and was thinking of a gilet/ vest type option. I wanted a hood with it but this option doesn't seem to exist. Has anyone found anything similar and is it a good option? I don't want to spend alot either. Thanks.

This post was a banger as I'm thinking the same thing!

i've got a light windproof jacket from the sports section in m&s- perfect if you need something for the cooler mornings although as i discovered on Sunday, in a sudden downpour, it goes straight through (was out for a walk and wear my gym/run gear for comfort) so am looking for a jacket or at least a cap I can take with me that lightweight as my head gets really hot
