🎶I need a Hero/Mojo🎶 (sorry Bonnie Tyler)

After a fitful night I managed to get out for the last run of the year, listening to my Shrek inspired playlist. The track formally known as "I Need a Hero" summed it up.

🎶

Where did all the night time go?

I didn’t sleep last night.

I tossed and turned, my temperature burned,

Felt like my skin was alight.

“Why won’t sleep descend on me?” I couldn’t get quite right.

I knew that I had to sleep

To be running at first light.

😴

I need my mojo.

I’ve had no sleep and I’m looking like I’ve been in a fight.

I’m supposed to run,

And it won’t be much fun,

And my eyes just wanna stay shut tight.

I need my mojo.

The gremlins struck and they’ve scuppered me with all of their might.

I don’t feel too well,

I’m looking like hell,

And my hair is matted, such a fright!

Such a fright…

Somewhere before breakfast

I asked Mr Razouski,

Would he get his bike out and

Cycle along with me?

Went to the old railway

And set me on my way.

Told me to start running ‘

Because I had to do 10K.

🏃🏾‍♀️

I’ve got my mojo.

Running out with my mojo now and feeling alright.

The hills are too long

My legs aren’t so strong,

But I’m running in the sun, it’s so bright.

I had my mojo,

And I finished my run despite looking a sight.

I got to 10k

And I just have to say

That a PB was such a delight.

56 mins in spite…

...

Felt so good after all that effort to get a personal best for a 10k on my last run of the year.

Happy New Year All and happy running. :-)

Thanks, I wasn't even trying for a PB as it was a much hillier route than my normal route, and I swear there was more uphill than downhill, although Mr R said it wasn't possible on an out and back. ;-)

Sure there can be; I remember my dad talking about having to walk to and from school in snow up to here (pointing to his waist) uphill both ways 😂. Yup, they sure had it rough 😆

Thank you Irish-John . I feel like I'm on a role. I might even try and break my 5K park run time some time this year.

Actually I only went and finished park run in under 27 mins , which was a Pb for 5k, and I found out I hadn’t done a Parkrun since March 2017.

My new year’s resolution made on new year’s eve was to complete another Parkrun and then I decided to get up with my hangover and run the New Year’s Day Parkrun, so at least I’ve got that out of the way. 😂😂😂

It's funny how I have two bouts of rethinking lyrics in succession, having been all out of running (and singing) inspiration for so long.

Congratulations on your PB and a great post as always.

Happy New Year to you too!

That could have been written for me last year. Probably not the personal best bits though was thinking more of the sleep x

I remember when you were having difficulties with sleep. How did you solve them in the end. Any tips would be more than welcome, as last night I had very little sleep again as my tinnitus was keeping me awake. :-(

My partner retired and the snoring suddenly drastically reduced. Added to that, running every day through last month really helped my sleep no end x

Thanks ju-ju- , I'm trying to be more disciplined with my running, so need to come in the forum more regularly as it's so motivating.

I feel like I'm getting back into this again, and couldn't believe I actually went to Parkrun this morning after a very late and boozey night out and managed to finish well under 30mins.

56 minutes 10k - blimey oh Riley I’d hate to see you with your mojo fully operational, you’d be targeting one Mo Farah on timings. Maybe you could pull me along in a buggy? Well done on getting out there, you’ve done 10km more than me so far. Great lyrics by the way...:) JCR XX

10km more than you... but you’re supposed to be having a well deserved rest, and you did 1000km more than me last year. X

Back in the saddle yesterday - a fish run of 6km. My fishmonger is bemused he asked me why I was running when my challenge had finished!

Tidy little run... but why is it called a 'fish run"? Were you running too and from the fish shop? Or running like a fish???

Both - running to and from the fish shop and as I had to carry both salmon and trout, I had one in each hand whilst running, they did look as though they were swimming, so I guess as a Fisher between two fish, then I probably ran like a fish!

Probably not to be repeated for a while. Today I was on a hillier route so my 10k was 58.26. But I'm pleased with that.
