Vitality Running World Cup - qualification clarification πŸ™ŠπŸ™‰πŸ™ˆ

The current qualification round of the tournament closes at midnight tomorrow (11th March).

β˜… Please note, it is the country that must qualify in this round, not you as an individual!

From the FAQ's on the official website: 'If your country is still in the competition you can run in the next round, even if you missed the previous round, or all other rounds. You cannot however change your country once you have run once for a country at any point in the tournament.'

β˜… Having said that, in order for your runs to count for your country you do need to qualify at some point by doing at least one run of 3 kms in 30minutes; however this can be during any round in the tournament.

Depending which part of the website you read, it is unclear whether or not shorter, slower runs will also count once you have done a run of 3kms in 30 minutes!

But from one of the FAQs on the official website 'If you run under 3 km / you run 3 km but take longer than 30 minutes, your run will remain on your account, but it will not count until you clock at least 3 km in 30 minutes. At this point your total run distances will count.' Contrary to what I said before, this suggests shorter runs will count, so long as you have at least one 3k+ qualifying run.

There are clearly still issues with some runs not being picked up from Strava, but Garmin and Mapmyrun tracking seems to be working well, and the form for manually registering an untracked run also seems to be working well.

It's not too late to sign up to run for your country! You'll find lots more info on how to do so in this pinned post: healthunlocked.com/bridgeto...

We currently have 125 amazing runners in our HU team - well done everyone. Happy running πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ†

Thank you again for sharing linda9389 I've had good email help from vitality staff and finally my runs are correctly recorded with today’s run appearing automatically and fairly instantly from garmin. Happy running everyone πŸ€—

Fabulous. Garmin or mapmyrun are definitely the way to go!

My runs via Garmin Connect haven't yet appeared πŸ˜”. I contacted the VWC folk who said load manually which I have now done for my first run, but still it hasn't appeared. They said it may take 24 hours. I shall live in hope. 😊

Garmin is working for most people so long as the privacy setting is set to 'connections' as detailed in the pinned post, however it will only work for runs made after the settings are changed from being private. Maybe nudge the team if your manual one hasn't been actioned by morning. Such a faff though πŸ™

Thank you Linda. I shall have a look at the pinned post. I just followed the VWC instructions when I entered, but my IT skills are not particularly good and I don't remember anything about privacy settings. It seems ages ago since I entered. As my name appeared I assumed, probably, incorrectly that I'd entered fine. Ah well! A little more effort required ... 😊

Vitality don't mention privacy settings so it's not your fault, but it's essential for it to work. Hopefully you will be able to sort it in time for the next round at the weekend. Shout if the faq post isn't clear though.

I have a lot going on so I have decided to cheer from the sidelines instead.

I can't see where this is going. I can't imagine there are many people in Italy running right now, and I'm afraid others will follow. In the grand scheme of things it's not very important, but are there any updates on coronovirus?

No, I haven't seen any updates on coronavirus with respect to this challenge if that's what you are asking.

Yes sorry, that was what I was asking. I re read my question and it does sound quite ambiguous.

Also sounded rather gloomy, sorry about that too. It maybe because we could end up having to call off my son's wedding next month. 😞

As it happens, Italy are 8th or 9th at the moment!

But, oh no. What a dreadful nightmare for you all! That sounds much more of a worry than how the vrwc may be affected. I think I'd be feeling rather eeyore ish too πŸ™

Thanks. I'm sure it will all work out in the end.

I like to be upbeat in this lovely online community. That one slipped through the net. I'll just keep on running. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

I think it’s more likely large gatherings at races that are bound to be problematic.
