First run for me in 12 days ๐ฎ having prescribed myself a running break to try and improve energy levels and help my niggly hip. Set off on my favourite route up on to a local bridleway. My plan was to maybe just do 3.5/4km but once out I couldn't resist the temptation to go a little further and so did a steady 5k in the end๐. I was still a little aware of my hip at times but it does seem much better for the rest. Will see how it is tomorrow, but think the key is to keep working on my glutes! I won't do any longer runs until it has settled (promise!!) Oh, but it was SOOO good to be out again - and I definately have more energy again. Hope everyone has good runs this weekend๐
A (tentatively) lovely run!๐: First run for... - Bridge to 10K
A (tentatively) lovely run!๐
Ah that's really good news Sandra, I am so pleased for you !
I am so glad your hip didn't give you any pain, the rest has done it good by the sounds of it and long may it continue !
Well done on your run today, Flying Sandra is back - Oh yeah ! xxx
Great to hear you are running again. Sometimes a rest is the best thing to give the body a chance to mend and to re-energise us. Hope the hip improves very soon ๐X
I've been tentatively running again, a 3k, a 4.5k, and a fast 3.5k (I needed to work through some frustrations on Thursday evening - and running fast seemed to help!) I'm also, like you, being careful with my hip, so I'll be building up as gradually as I can. Just 3 runs in a bit over a month doesn't feel too impressive, but so far I'm not getting that niggling pain anymore, so hopefully tentative is working well for me too
Hope you continue to improve too. It's so important to listen to our bodies I think, and mine was definately crying out for a rest. Now to focus on those weak areas so that I can gradually get back to where I was. Good luck!๐
Yes, got to remember not to get too laid back about the stretches. I have new stretches that need to be done regularly now, it all seems to help. I still think a gait test may be due too... maybe when current money tightness has passed a bit - as I'm imagining 'proper' shoes (i.e. not Karrimor ยฃ25 ones) might be a bit expensive... Basically we know what we need to don't we! Good luck slowly getting back to where you were, and beyond
So pleased to see that Sandra. And yes, strong glutes are the key to happy running!
Great news, Sandra I'm so pleased to see you've been out and about again. I think it's very sensible to take breaks, but what a good idea to go back to your favourite place, and what a great result!
Well done... And I struggle with my hip but I've found this regime very good.

I always do the leg swings and hip routine just before a run and it really helps.
Also great your rest has done you good... Well done! ๐
Only just seen this Sandra!glad you're out and about again, that's great news๐๐ !it's sooooo got today! I'm supposed to be out later I tho I it'll be a short one when the sun goes down more x
It has been warm Ali, but I think the next couple of days are set to be hotter๐ฉ! Having a couple of extra rest days now but feeling really good after Friday's run. Have been out on my bike the last couple of days and working on my glutes!! Fingers crossed that the weather cools before my next run!!๐
Well done you... and your niggly hip
Nice to hear you enjoyed your run Sandra, injuries aren't nice are they, hope everything in rehab goes to plan for you. Keep smiling. ๐
