So the bridge plan says 5.5km today. I’m not very good at route planning, there are a lot of nice flat even tarmac cycle tracks near me and I like to just run, and go where the fancy takes me. I had an idea in my head what might make 5.5km but by the time I was almost home my watch said 5.8. I had no choice but to do a lap of the park to make it up to 6km. It actually wasn’t as hard as I was expecting it to be, I actually enjoyed most of it, and I really felt good at the end. Strava even gave me some medals, one of them was gold!
What didn’t feel so great was when I was overtaken by a chap with a lovely spaniel. The chap was wearing a parkrun 50 t-shirt and given the time and the distance away, I suspect he had run there and was on his way home.... which would make his run at least a 20km round trip depending on how much further he was going...... and he was still going a fair bit faster than me 😂

Well done E! How nice that it was enjoyable - that’s not always the case! Don’t compare yourself to spaniel man - he was probably parked up round the corner. Well, maybe not. I went to a climbing centre the other week and a couple I was meeting had just run 8 miles to get there. Then spent several hours climbing. Let’s compare ourselves to the people sat on couches, ok?!
It’s blowing a hoolie outside; I’m meant to be doing my 5k (third run of week 2)...
