Decided today would be a long run day - for me that’s more than 5k and max 10k. Decided to start my audio book Shuggie Bain (booker winner), enjoy the mild weather and countryside and just see what happened. Started off too quickly and after 2k decided to not worry about it and just accept that this would mean that it was not going to be a 10k today. First 4k and all the time a whispering gremlin telling me I’m really not sure I’m up for this today. I could just stop at the lake and take in the views and watch the swans and then walk home. But no, I am not stopping I am out for a run and that is what I will do. 5k and my mojo kicks in and I am lost in Shuggie’s tough world (1981 tenements Glasgow). This is making me even more appreciative of the lovely Kent countryside as I trundle along. 7.5k starting to get tired and I realise I will have a downhill to end on if I go for 8k so settle on that. Walk the last 10 mins home. I enjoyed that.

Sunday long audio run
Sounds like a good run for you! I still start off too quickly and really have to make a conscious effort to slow down, then it’s too slow. I think I need my own personal pacemaker 😀.
Well done for not giving in to the distance gremlin. I have to deal with him, too! (Especially if it’s raining.)
Sounds a great run and a lot further than 5k. Funnily on my last 2 runs I seemed to get a second wind when I'm almost at 5k.
Great run!I always set off too quickly, even when I think I am going deliberately slow. I'll crack that at some point I hope.
The distance gremlins 😈 have been busy talking in my ear lately too.
Hopefully I have sent them packing with my 7k this afternoon as you did with your 8k 💪
Thanks birdlady64 - well done on your 7k. I’m learning with running it’s like just when you feel like you have reached a milestone (30 mins/5k/10k/1 hour..) there is still so much to learn and consolidate, nothing is guaranteed from one run to the next. Think it is mentally challenging and maybe that’s why it can be so rewarding.
Tha's braw! 😉
That does sound like a good run, and being lost in the book,
