Thanks to storm Ciara, the LWR was cancelled. I was pretty gutted, mainly feeling for the organisers who must feel terrible after months of prep.
Sill, they gave everyone the option to do a virtual 10k race, and upload their Strava screenshot to claim a medal. So, since Saturday was actually a pretty nice, sunny day, I went out and did it a day early.
The run didn’t go as well as my local 10k race last week, but it was still a good experience. 10km is tough for me still, and I am definitely more comfortable at 5km, doing parkrun almost every week.
The great news is that I raised over £500 for Cancer Research in sponsorship, which I am really proud of.
Looking out through the window, I’m glad I’m not running today. Good call!

Congratulations, that is a great achievement on raising that money, £500, wonderful, if today had been a Saturday there would not have been many parkruns at all.
Well done! Me and 2 running friends did the same yesterday in brilliant sunshine along The Thames. We wore our Winter run T-shirt’s and race numbers and even met a few others doing the same thing along the way. Now lying in bed listening to the wind and although very sad to have missed the chance to run today, am thankful that I’m not out there in that weather right now!
Hue well done you.... you did brilliantly and clearly did enjoy the virtual run! I am hoping my HM in March does not get cancelled, last year, we were on snow alert!
Wow - amazing sponsorship! 👍👏👏 Well done! I also went out and ran my London Winter Run 10k yesterday. Crowd support was a little lacking out on the trails where I run 🙄😉and I couldn't help wonder if any of the other runners I passed might also have been doing their own virtual run - or whether there were more people out there yesterday because of the forecast today!💨🍃🍂💨 Either way, like you - quite glad not to be outrunning this morning!🙂
Yeah, I definitely had less crowd support, apart from the occasional dog that wanted to run with me instead of walk with their owner. They probably wanted the slower pace. 😉
